The inside and outside chamfer on your case neck seems a little excessive, l wonder if this has contributed to the problem you’re experiencing ?

Annealing your brass could help resolve the issue, l anneal after every fireing and can’t remember how many times I’ve reloaded my brass. I use a hand held torch to anneal and it doesn’t take that much effort.

Check the rest of your brass for such defects.

Go steady on the chamfering.

Hi Fosbery Holster so you just do it with the bottle and pliers say
How long for each on average 10 seconds or so
If so probably a lot cheaper than renewing the brass every 3 fires

MAPP torch with pencil flame attachment (pencil flame vital for accuracy) drill and socket and about 3-4 second in the flame depending on type of brass/case.

I can do 100 cases in under 15minutes. Never quite understood why people buy machines unless they are doing hundreds or even thousands at a time, in which case I can see it makes sense.

You can do it very accurately by hand.

Just one question do we anneal after depriming and before wet tumbling or after wet tumbling
Cheers
I clean first to remove any residue from around the neck which could result in hotspots when I anneal.

I DO NOT do any resizing until after I’ve annealed.

As above, I use a simple butane/propane mix torch with a pencil flame, a hand held drill & an appropriately sized socket bit (10mm for 222 etc & 12mm for 308 etc). Put the torch on a stand, pop a case into the socket, pull the trigger on the drill with the pale blue part of the flame 3-6mm from the bottom of the shoulder & pointed towards the case mouth & watch the colour. Usually takes no more than a few seconds & you’ll see the shoulder colour up first then it’ll spread over the shoulder & down the case - it only needs to be 6-8mm below the shoulder & the photo below shows the ‘rainbow’ band on the edge that’ll appear when you reach the correct temp.

That chamfering really is a bit ‘excessive’ to say the least. You should be looking for a nice clean even cut on the inside & just the slightest ‘kiss’ on the outside to remove the burr that develops when you trim to length.

The Witchcase Annealing General, otherwise known as Stalker1962, was your best SD freind in days gone by.

Sadly no longer of this site from what I can see.

Sorry to digress slightly from the original post……..but what has happened to @Stalker1962 ??
I believe @Stalker62 got a bit fed up going to his local only to find that instead of the usual good natured banter & the opportunity to chat about mutually beneficial topics, not to mention a few tales of daring do, he found the bar was full of loud & uncouth yobs singing football songs, yelling at the ref on the big screen telly & drinking far too much lager before starting the inevitable slanging matches with each other… & so has decided to stop at home in front of a nice fire with a dram in his hand & dogs at his feet. Whilst I genuinely miss his contributions, & can’t say I blame him, I think the SD is a lesser place without him & I’d be at the front of the queue to buy him a drink if he walked back through the bar door 🥃

Hmmm.
My name is Foxyboy and I have never annealed (pause for collective SD massive gasp and reviving of several elderly types who have fainted..).
I have reloaded for thirty plus years in everything from .222 through to 8mm plus a few chamberings which are no longer legal the other side of the Irish Sea - never have I felt the need to anneal - even for range shooting nor have I encountered a round which didn’t go bang when required or resulted in a PoI different from the others.
Yes on occasion some brass has been “stiffer” than others (usually detected when trimming is required) so have I just been lucky - or wot? Of course I do crimp (more swooning).
Class discuss….

I agree but the reason behind it was that it fell wrong when I first started
And I carried on and did it all over again and then realised that something else was wrong which prompted me to take a good look at it.
I will double check the other cases for excessive chamfer

I was with you until I purchased a 6mm PPC that came with a limited supply of the previous Owner's brass. Couldn't get meaningful neck tension (using several increments of bushing) until Stalker62 kindly annealed them on his funky AMP machine and supplied the code for future treatments.
