I wear these year round. As Taff said, no ticks. What we also do is use creeks and rivers for tracks, so you are always in and out of them. Long pants take forever to dry, and shorts are better. You haven't lived till you've taken your boots off to walk through a crutch deep creek while snow is falling.

British Army surplus MTP trousers. If you get the warm weather/tropical variant they are treated against ticks as well... Very cheap, hard-wearing and decent pockets.

My second pair of Ingels has just been delivered from HarkilaDamm - only just seen!
I alternate between 2 sets of Harkila - the Gortex Pro's for hard wet stalking and the Ingels (1101147) for Summer, dry conditions. The latter, available in various leg length like the Pros have been outstanding! Sadly, I think they are discontinued now although I see some are coming up in vintage outlets on the www - you might be able to get a bargain there! They are also in Harkila's vetted vintage outlet:

Very impressed, they look new for secondhand ones! Being 6'4" and, having found these fit me perfectly, I wasn't going to let the opportunity to get the 35" leg length go by. Sadly, very few are made long nowadays and in Summer, I don't wear my wellies - well normally 
So I've been using Revolution Race trousers for any outdoor based activities, from hiking, walking the dog, stalking etc, and I think they are brilliant. I'd say they are mid-priced (starting from around £65), compared to some of the more stalking oriented gear (Kuiu, Harkila, etc) and fit brilliantly. I often have a bit of trouble being a reasonably large sized human, but have never had trouble with these. I've only ever bought 2 pairs as they seem to just keep going. Asda do good dark combat trousers, poly cotton- relatively warm and dry quickly when wet. Also under 20 quid which is an important factor when you’re under 6ft, with short legs and have to transverse lots of barbed wire fences!

+1 for Haglof Rugged Mountain Pant. Have 3 pairs that have been well & truly used but are still going strong after at least 5 years!! Plenty still advertised on line. Used them in all weather from summer through to full Scottish winter….. I just stick a pair of merino longjohns on underneath when it gets cold
Can't go wrong with army surplus.
