The following is said to no one in particular but is I think worthy of consideration when posting on a public forum.
1)
It costs nothing to be civil, and on the contrary in my experience it often pays dividends beyond expectation.
2)
I’ve long since learned to stop digging when in a hole I am better off not being in.
3)
Better to be thought the fool than to open my mouth and remove all doubt.
4)
If you have nothing constructive to say, sometimes it better to say nothing, or at least wait till you have.

thankyou guys for the positive and the not so comments, there's something to be learned from all, despite ageing it incorrectly it was getting shot anyway, the policy this winter is shoot on sight if in season, except the really big stags, I am pleased with the fact that I stalked it for 1/4 of a mile through a boggy swampy wood, crawled through a muddy ditch and killed it cleanly at 200 yards, the next one I see will get shot as well and when the hinds start so will any of them that get too close, it is a numbers reduction and crop protection job, if I don't do it they will get someone else who will and I will loose my small deer stalking and pigeon shooting

This has got to stop Malc. The OP wasn't offended and clearly hasn't complained. The world we now live in is full of not only the serial offended but now the serial offended who are offended for other people. Its ridiculous. The usual gang come out but only after one of them takes the lead.
Your constant 'only been doing it 5 minutes' doesn't add up. How long is a doctor's training? A lot less time than I have been stalking that's for sure! Do you ask how long a Dr has been qualified before they treat you? Of course not! Being able to give advice is one thing. It isn't much good if no one does. Anyone coming on here to learn may as well contact me direct because no one else is offering anything except nastiness. If my original comment offended the OP then I apologise. If all you want is a site full of spite but no educational content then that's easy. Just ban everyone who gives advice. Several have left already.
I'm done, these deer aren't going to shoot themselves! Have a good day and I hope you and your clients get lucky!

baguio, I'm not offended by any of the comments, I live in the real world, if you are going to post on a public forum then be prepared for + or - comments. like you said the world has gone bonkers, you can barely breathe without some fool or do gooder getting offended either for himself or on some one else's behalf, that's life I'm afraid, they should just man up and get on with life and stop crying into their soy latte's, grow a pair and get on with it, what happened to that MP the other day is offensive, the fact that I wrongly aged a deer and got ribbed about it is neither here nor there, it wont stop me posting on here, it might prompt me to a bit of research first but that is only a maybe, I truly love my bit of stalking and the deer and really enjoy SD and shall continue with bothThis has got to stop Malc. Great post mike, sounds like your having to control numbers as many are where selective culling not possible and keeping the peace. None of it rocket science, all knowledge good but do not have to take it to extremes unless you wish. You may embrace the whole biology of the entire species given time, up to you. Speaking as a “ has been” full time stalker i remember shooting a knobber (male) in bad light among a swirling bunch of hinds when pressure on to kill numbers, it happens if people are honest. Are you for real, many with far more experience then you offer great advice, take people out introducing them to Stalking (without charge) Maybe the way you come across to people does you no favours, Good judgment comes from experience, and often experience comes from bad judgment. I think you could gain experience looking at your earlier posts
Not long ago Baguio, you referred to me as “a freeloader” because I would not answer your personal questions and found your manner and tone offensive, I still do. If more people on this site conducted themselves like yourself I would leave also, which would be no loss to anyone I grant you. If I may.
It is that kind of comment that is perhaps not helpful to your cause.
I do not know you (you do not know me) that is the nature of "social media". A lot gets lost in translation. I think you mean well.
Most folk will, (mostly) always try to give the "benefit of the doubt" when communication or emphasis is transmitted across the medium of the tinternet.
Occasionally, messages are mixed, misunderstood or confused. The temptation then is to lash out. Resist it. Take a breath. It's all good.
The stalking world is a family (dysfunctional I grant you) but a family none the less.
We could all be kinder. We could all be more tolerant. We could all do better.

So many SD "conversations" - "arguments" - "rages" could be sorted out with a wee dram, sitting with your "protagonist".
He(she) is only your protagonist in the tinternat. In real life; they are your family.
Fully understand .not sure I would join any group hug, hugging some old stalker ripe with the odour of rutty stag isn't that appealing, I would happily share a bottle of Malt with any or all of you though

I disagree. You can learn an awful lot about someone's character from how they portray themselves through their online persona, I think. Sure there are those who try to hide their true personality, but they can easily be figured out with a wee bit of attention. Then there are those who try to be clever, again you can soon figure them out. Those who don't try to hide themselves, or pretend to know more than they actually do (especially at other's expense) are the ones most valuable to any online community. Honesty, and basic decency are trends pretty easily identified, and I can honestly say these are the qualities most SD members exhibit in the main and their opinions, input, and views are valued. Then there are those who're just unpleasant through and through. And again they can't disguise themselves for very long. I have an ignore list of members whose contributions I no longer have an interest in viewing, but fortunately (or not, as the case may be) I can think of only a couple of them I find I truly dislike. I'm also fairly certain they're just as unlikable in the flesh as online . . .
No, neverNo need for a presentation. I find that visiting the local deer park can be an excellent way to learn about deer.
