We are definitely looking at the viability of this. Of course, many 4K users love them and wouldn't change them for the world, the video recording along with the zoom wheel on the side are features some users really love.

Ben as i say - we have been gifted one for our shoot auction - i hopefully will know the buyer so will send you some real footage or even see if we can get you over to look if that suits
Cheers Jim that's a top offer.

I'm in bit of a quandary at the minute in terms of what scopes I want on which rifle.

The video and wifi - on any of them is very very useful - checking to a see a strike in the event of a run - which direction an animal ran etc etc

I have the Mars/Thor 4 640x480 4-40x scope which occasionally locks up, requiring a long hold of the power button to force reboot it. This is an annoying problem as I only notice it when lifting the rifle to take the shot and noticing the zoom ring not responding and the on screen data not updating cant and tilt. Other than that the scope works lovely, but to get rid of these issues I'd happily part ex it in for a later model if possible? Please @ATNUK PM me if this is something you'd consider? I'm local to Hereford as well.

Also for those that say they dont need wifi or recording, I often use both. I like to record my shots as when shooting multiple deer at distance on clear fell they can run in all directions before dropping. Being able to review the footage after makes it a damn sight quicker finding multiple animals that have fallen into holes on clear fell.

We can either try to fix the issue with your existing item, which might not be difficult at all, so definitely better to let us know than suffer in peace! I can set up an appointment at the office if you'd like? you can then also see the new MARS 5 series in case an upgrade was ever desired.

Why from many users experience do ATN products freeze? When your competitors look not to have that problem which is a significant reason for your poor reputation.

Slightly off tangent but I and a mate use the discontinued Yukon N470s.
Superb bit of kit no WiFi recording and alike. One big bug is that it always reverts to base mag every time you switch it off. It's a pain. Other bug is you have to scroll x3 though menu to adjust the mag. Why oh why can't it be first on the menu as its the thing you use the most. Rarely need to adjust brightness and contrast.

On new products why do they need all the continuous updates.? Are they not field tested and or are the testers incompetent. Only have to look at all the issues with the Hik Condors to see the havoc caused by rushing the release of a clearly untested/unreliable unit.
Also looking at comments on here re the Zulus it appears operational manual is lacking.
Rant over

Many manufacturers do have an element of freezing issues and firmware hiccups - you see this with several of the 'big name' incumbents a well. It is not an industry that is at a highly developed plateau, it is still in the relative early stages, and whilst it would be wonderful to have completely 'finalised' firmware before launching any products, there seems to be a 'race to market from manufacturers' with firmware improvements becoming the norm to fix what could not be done before 'getting in before the competition'..., a bit like Apple Iphone updates and App updates, etc. The trick, and key IMHO, is to avoid launching a product which is not at an acceptable level of product finalisation - we have been there, but we have also learned from that ;) so we don't plan on repeating any mistakes. What we 'do' plan on is getting things right going forwards, and providing excellent customer support and service.

We had one problem that had higher rates than normative, it has been fixed, although some units may still be in circulation due to age. The issue is anyone who had freezing issues yells about it publicly (quite right I agree), but those that had perfectly happy and normal consumer experiences stayed silent. At the time, the NV and thermal market consisted of ATN and Pulsar, and we took a huge market share, so when this problem occurred, it became a big 'thing', which for some reason seems to haunt us in every dark corner of public shooting forums. Hopefully the changes we are implementing will make this mishap a forgotten past one day.

Very few manufacturers across any industry you can think of, has not had one big product mistake. Some move on and try to learn from it and set things right, that's my purpose with ATN.

I've tried top upgrade myself but the process is painful.
End to end needs to be better addressed in my honest opinion. For example to update the firmware a laptop is required in order to load the download onto the MicroSD card. But to get the download you need to register an account... but to register an account the registration page does not accept a UK postcode. Shown here in my example it doesn't even accept ATN's Hereford address....

I work daily on computers, but imagine the struggle for those that do not. I don't wish to compare you to competitors but updates/upgrades using a mobile phone and wifi are significantly easier.

I created an account years ago after getting the scope to do the updates must have taken my u.k. postcode then.

Been deciding on changing out my Zulus for an Alpex 4k or the X Sight 5. Reading some of the horror stories did have a bit of an influence, but I also read some really positive recent reviews. Then reading this thread and ATN’s promise to deal with any issues prompted me to buy one. Getting it on Monday and looking forward to comparing it against my Zulus. If I’m honest, a little bit of me is still thinking I should’ve gone with the Alpex, that’s just nerves after deciding and parting with the cash! The comms and commitment made by ATN on this forum, not hiding away or shying away fills me with confidence that if my unit is not quite right it’ll get sorted.

Roll on Monday!

My experience of both is difference between light and day. ATN are just in a different league whereas Hik did not give a rats tail.

I have just got my X Sight 5 back from ATN. I contacted them on a Thursday evening, they got back to me on Friday and arranged for the scope to be collect on the Monday by DHL. The service department were back in touch later in the week, and the scope was delivered back by DHL on the Saturday.

The scope went in for an LRF issue, and came back fully repaired at no cost to me, the shipping cost both ways was also picked up by ATN.

From my perspective, great customer service, and thanks to everyone involved at ATN for repairing and returning the scope so quickly.

So justify the statement that you make Pea, it would appear that ATN are attempting to revert back to good old fashioned "after sales service" and also move forwards with their product range.
I am waiting for the Thermsight TNC225R to hit the shops, no doubt there will be a few teething issues with that new model but I doubt you will get it looked at and returned within a working week.
