Exactly this, they do get thrown in a hedge but you do notice a biggy.When you pick a 23lb fox up you notice it. That encourages weighing it.

When I first started shooting foxes I used to weigh them all , just out of curiosity more than anything.
Most averaged 12 - 14 Lb ....a big fox was 18 - 20 lb
If you dont weigh a big one its guesswork and I like to be accurate.I know when I shoot a big fox and I have shot some big old lumps...but cant be arsed weighing them as Im not really that bothered.
