Out last night.

Had one early evening last night big dog with a very swollen paw when I stepped on it full of puss , hop that hasn’t put you off your dinner 😄

Just had one after Christmas dinner. Think it’s the same one I messed a couple of nights ago! A handful of bits of leftover goose fat and skin and he must have wandered out minutes after I chucked the bait out!

Journeyed down to the family farm for boxing day/night meet up! Silly not to take the rifle I thought 🤔

Popped out for a hour after too much food for a nice crisp evening stroll... as the alloted hour was almost up, imposed by the better half ... this vixen stepped out from cover.

A squeak had her sat and the 75grn vmax found its mark. I do love the .243, Aplex and Vmax set up.

Hope one and all have had great Christmas break 🫡

I got a visitor at 1am on the trail camera so I went out late. Ratting at first, took the hushpower and some 12g sub sonic loads I threw together using just 16.5gn of red dot.
Works and quiet.
Gone 11 I get to the lambing fields and ventured into the wind and squals of wind and rain.
The moon made it like daytime between high velocity clouds.
I crossed a bridge and scanned, bugger me a fox was sat watching the road I was on. Only a ton away, I frantically tried to deploy the rifle only to observe it enter the timber and slowly disappear 🤦.
I patrolled the area as best I could stealthily hoping Charlie turns up again somewhere but it didn't.
It's gone 12 now and I've had to shelter from heavy showers a few times. At this point I was glad I'd had my afternoon nap!
So I resigned to the fact it was going to be a failure for fox collecting but it was still a joy to be out. Hedgehogs are still out!
As I was nearing the car and scanning I looked back at the river, they like walking up and down the river and buggering eck, one is coming! I foolishly rushed back along the private elevated road and spooked it 🤦.
Fortunately it retreated to the river and sat to watch me.
I was a good 150 yards away, I was being completely blasted by the storm...I forgot it's name, Greta?? It was angry anyway...I pulled myself together and said " that's nowt fer a twipple that" and settled into the shot.
Any way it come together with a perfect heart shot. A vixen. Made 40 yds after the shot.

I love going out in the moon. Had some good results in the moon. Sometimes binos are all you need.

Started raining as soon as I got out last night so thought that was it. Then it stopped & the moon came up, great visibility, another vixen

On the feed rounds today, Charlie sat watching me behind a fallen log, bang on midday.
223 in Gator so last mistake. Dog fox, presumably going home after a busy night chasing the ladies. We're shooting tomorrow so just glad he didn't come out through the guns.
