Pluck a duck!

good one. Reminds me of a guy.
Met a hunter on my travels; he said they used to shoot ducks in hundreds and taught me a 'trick' which for him and his mates was not a trick but a regular method. Plus, this method was repeatable for multiple ducks. For eg. the method in the video is good for the first duck but by the 10th duck the person will get slower as the fingers tire.

I remember the trick however sadly that hunter couldnt demonstrate it to me live as duck hunting is now banned where he lives.

Come on, you can’t leave that there? What was it?????

I find it funny how people are in such a rush to process their venison/feathered game, it’s part of the day. I don’t mind sitting on a stool plucking a few birds.

It gets old quickly if you have more than a few to do though.I actually bought an attachment with rubber fingers that you put in a drill. It was supposed to make plucking a damn sight easier. The idea is to scald the bird, then offer it up to this device as it spun. First time I used it I ended up just holding a pair of legs :rolleyes::lol: Not used it since

I once tried using a big industrial scale plucking machine on muscovy ducks, and all it did was polish them! Frustrated, I applied a bit more force, whereupon the machine snatched the duck from my hand, whirled it round a few times, and then spat it out against the wall behind. Still with its feathers intact.

I will bet that looked a completely different activity if seen from his neighbor's window or from behind !! Bloody quick though !! Just had wild mallard last 2 days for the tea !! Forgot how good they are

My shed wall and ceiling was covered in wet feathers and bits of carcass. My mates didn't stop laughing for weeks. Did they? @john.g

TBH I am sure all my experienced friends know about it. However for me it was something new.
The wax trick. dip in melted wax then iced water and pull off the solid covering. A bit like waxing
Allowed them to process a couple hundred ducks
