my rifles
hi guys
the first one is a ruger M77 mk2 in .243 win. this rifle started life as a stutzen. it looked great but shot awfully. i shortenned the stock and floated the barrel. it has an 11 deg target crown cut. it now is really accurate. i can put 2 rounds in the bull every time at 100yds. the barrel is really thin and short and gets very hot very quickly so a third shot will always be an inch away! i got the scope off ebay, it cost me about £20. it is a 3-10 x 40 with Illuminated reticule.
second one is a parker hale .30-06 with a bushnell 3-9 x 50 banner on millet mounts and weaver blocks. it shoots inch groups with 150 gr speer hotcors on 53 gr of N140. It is an excellant rifle marred by a creepy trigger. it has some knocks and bumps it has had the sling swivels araldited in
i really like it.
the third is my remmy model 7 in 7mm08. this is the only rifle that i have bought new. it has a bushnell trophy 3-9 x 40 scope on a one piece weaver block and ironsighter mounts. i shoot 145 gr hotcors through it. it is mustard. It is a lovely light rifle ideal for woodland stalking with a great trigger and a gorgeous action. BUT the felt recoil seems high and can be offputting for some it is not a smooth and easy shot. with 130 gr it is much much more mild. I can't imagine using either of the others now for deer shooting. the 7mm is superb.
this one is my cousins CZ527 in .223 rem. it is fitted with a 3-9 x 40 bushnell elite a harris bipod and a T4 mod. he uses norma 50 gr soft points with 27.5gr of N140 (although he is changing to H4895). this is for foxing and crows and magpies. it is a great little rifle with a classic mauser action. If i was buying a .223 it would be top of my list.
I don't have bipods on my stalking rifles, but i would like them threaded for a moderator.
