Sticking with my earlier prediction
Given the Magna Carta is always described as the “Great Charter” I am hoping the difference between what’s happening now is the word ”Great”Is this going to be the second Magna Carta?
I thought Brexit was supposed to solve all thatWe are witnessing the loss of hard fought for freedoms and civil liberties and decline of democracy. Once people are given power, and I don't mean authority, (there is a difference), they are unwilling to relinquish it ! We see this manifest by the delegation of 'power' by central Government to local Authorities/Councils to determine how we go about our daily lives.
The population generally have acquiesced in this errosion of freedoms and at some point will look back in fear an wonder....'how did we get here, how did we let this happen' ?
I do hope I am mistaken for the countrys and it's inhabitants sake.
2020...Hope for the best, fear for the worst !
I thought Brexit was supposed to solve all that![]()
One or two mentions of the Magna Carta (above)
It is worth remembering England had her first Civil War as a result of King John failing to adhere to it even though he signed it.
It is often said history repeats itself. So whether or not there is Magna Carta version 2. I wont be surprised if we see something close to Civil War before too long.
Note the response to protests against the covid measures in Trafalgar Square the other day. (It matters not that they may be conspiracy fruit-loops etc) There was a noticeably muchsterner response to that than there ever was to the black lives protests or even greta thunderbird even though laws were broken many times with both those movement's protest activities. No visible attempt by the police to prevent any of it, even though laws were being broken. But plenty of coppers on one knee ffs!. Of course they were only doing there job (where have we heard that before?)
Powers that be know that sort of stuff will blow over, very much like a pendulum that will swing until it balances.
So what does the stamping down against the recent protests about the Covid measures tell us?
It is an indication as to how concerned the establishment/government actually are.
I believe they are currently crap**ng themselves about where things are heading. I fear things will turn rather unpleasant. I hope I am wrong but I fear not .
One thing I'll say about the Dutch (being married to one, and related to a load more) is that it is a real mission to prise money out of their vice-like grip. The idea of paying off some other feckless southern-European country's debts is as alien to them as Zwarte Piet is to us.Yes, it does seem that the EUroprats are a little underwhelmed at the prospects of Italy the Netherlands and Poland looking for their coats now..
Been on the funny fags again, Rodney...?Sorry - wrong expression- ignore me
I'll stick with my original guess, 12th of never or a bit after that.
There are too many people making a virtue of living in scared shitless state of mind and thoroughly enjoying the experience.
Even if a guaranteed 100% vaccine was available the restrictions will be kept parked up handy " just in case" and a sizeable proportion of the population will insist that it's the right thing to do, democracy in action don't cha know.
Personally, I'm ignoring it all as much as I can and going my own way.
Lockdown my ass.
