Price of puppies..

I must admit I am staggered by the amount of money some people are asking for puppies. Even cross breeds, labradoodles, cockerpoos are fetching £2000 or more. Two of our neighbours have recently bought puppies. One Golden Retriever, which they paid in excess of £2000 for, and the other a Golden Labrador which was far more than the £2000.
I have personally been searching for about 3 years now for a replacement for my tracking dog Todd, who I lost about 2.5 years ago. Its not been easy, good pedigree BMH dogs are not easy to find. They need to have a good background with no in breeding, good hip score and preferably come from a good working home.

I have one coming soon, at a price that fits the breed and its back ground. Will post some pictures up when we have him home. And I paid sensible money too.

My wife's friend had two Cockerpoos - one of whom died a couple of months ago.
This week she picked up a replacement Cockerpoo puppy.

I sh*t you not.

£5,000.

What about those little furry toy dogs on a trailer with 4 wheels and a stick to push it along?
Should fit the excuse to the cops when they are asked.

I had heard that there was a big problem with people who got a puppy in lockdown and cannot deal with them now, so rehoming but i cant find any!

It's insane - I'm in a predicament atm that my sprocker bitch is in pup and the only way I can advertise the pups is at top dollar so I cut out the dregs of
society. Have friends and known people having some for a discount for sure and i'm keeping a bitch but the fact that they will be advertised at £2.5K seems mental. She's an absolute cracker and the sire is awesome... but christ has the price gone up. WhatsApp Image 2021-01-12 at 12.49.13.webp

Unfortunately you have to put a high price on good pups. As a pal of mine asking £2,500 for Springer pups said " Advertise them at £1500 and the ba.....s sell them on at a profit". He vets every buyer but has sold them all to shooting homes. Believe me he will check later.......

stunning, let me know about pups mate

You just have to laugh at some of the prices you see, what can only be described as mongrel, puppies being advertised at. That said, I may laugh but someone must be paying the silly prices. I've been looking for a dog for a while now and am kicking myself for not having got one before this insanity started.

I’m in the same boat as you. My pair of labs are expecting in 2 weeks and I’ve advertised them at similar money. The absolute bellends I had contacting me. We’re certainly going to be moving them on

Well, I've just bought a pup for crazy money (be any standard other than very recent).

A working cocker for £2k.

I was in one mind to wait until COVID is over, the supply outstrips demand and the prices drop again. However, I will never get such a good opportunity to work from home again, which makes looking after the new pup far more practical.

As galling as it is to pay that much, I considered the high price one which had to be paid in order to take that opportunity. I figure there will be others in that boat too.

I don't hold it against the seller. She was genuine and keen to see the pups go to good homes and the price isn't too bad given the current market. As others say, offer them for less and some sod will come along and resell it, ripping you off and harming the pup.

😲 They could have probably had the other brought back from the dead for that sort of money
