Pulsar c50

i personally think the Solaris SRX has the edge on long distances
but the Dark engine ID has a nice flat well illuminated image at 150-200m mark
and no dark spot in the middle when the beam is at its widest which can be an area where a lot of IR lasers fail .

Good info there. 👍

If you're using the base mag of the C50 often then the Dark Engine ID will suit most people best at normal shooting ranges. This is the sort of scope it's designed for.

If you are doing more long range stuff and having some zoom applied most of the time, then the standard Dark Engine has around 50% more output power than the SRX and a slightly slacker beam profile, but with some darkening of the beam centre on the widest setting. This darkening disappears at around 8x magnification when set to fill the field of view

Cheers

Based solely upon video footage, the daytime image on the Wulf 4K seems to hold up much better than the C50. The image on the latter at 14x seems to degrade much more than the Wulf at over 20x. It'll be interesting to see how the day/night images from each compare in a side by side test.

Not that I rate the channel on YouTube but if anyone who has a C50 and has watched the Night Vision Shows review of the unit at night could they please confirm that the image at night is better than that shown on the videos they have uploaded. From what I’ve seen it isn't that impressive and the fox at 200 yards is far from impressive.

Re the above video clip. My pard 007 with pbirl is a long way better. My atn 4k was also better. I'm aware that on the majority of videos the actual scope image is better that the downloaded version.
Yes two different types of devices but ultimately for me its down to the image clarity.

Yes that video is pretty crap. I haven't looked through a C50 at night but did look through one this morning at the gunshop.
Hand held on a cloudy dull day, looking up the high street out to 250m, it was way better than that vid. I looked through both colour mode and B&W mode and I was impressed. Zoomed up to x14mag the image out of the box was crisp and the focus was not as fussy as my Wraith 4k Max. Suffice to say I have put an order in for one.

I was thinking the same. My Pard and SRX appears far better. I accept that the video quality can sometimes not be great but personally I was shocked how poor it was.

I’m pleased to hear it was better than the video as in my opinion it couldn’t be much worse. I really want to like it but having being bitten by the original Digex I can’t face another shambles. I will take a punt in one and hope and around 7x at 150 meters it’s acceptable.

I’m not quite sure why Richard utting would be using a wicked lights IR ? For a start it’s an LED ir

it’s needs a laser , why not use a Solaris or something along those lines .

all he has done is made himself look a bit of a knob .

I may be barking up the wrong tree but doesn’t he or did have Scott Country mentioned in some of his video reviews who I think distribute Wicked Lights. Call me cynical but that might be a reason to promote the LED based lamps which surely won’t bring out the best in this unit.

Herb .
I can absolutely promise your be able to smoke a fox at 150 y at X 7 .

I did do a video showing the C50 at different distances but the weather was awful, blowing a gale with rain and then mist haha .
to be honest I done a **** poor job of it , but I had a go .
it’s on the YouTube if you fancy a laugh 😂

I take a look. Have you got a link please. Real life not perfect conditions suits me better to see what’s what.

Apparently R Macleod and Sons had both for sale (scopes arriving next week); however, the non IR scopes are now sold out. Either they’re not getting many or they’re flying out the door! I do hope they live upto the hype 🤞🤞🤞

Couldn’t agree more, the footage of the 100yd fox at all magnifications day and night was terrible, no use going on about the dummy fox being smaller than a live one, being able to see the spot between a rabbits eye and ear for a headshot should be a doddle at that range.
This thread has intrigued me now, I need to see for myself the difference between the view through the scope and the footage, there needs to be a big improvement, if there is then that begs the question what’s wrong with Pulsars playback? All the others, Pard, ATN, Sightmark seems perfectly viewable.

It’s the software ( stream vision 2 ) seems to over compress the file to make it more manageable , and then you upload it and YouTube and it does it again .

plus he is using an LED ir torch , not a laser like the Solaris /dark engine etc etc

I’ll get some footage this week and share. Footage doesn’t really give you the full picture as like said some it is compressed …
