quad sticks - Im probably just doing it wrong

I think you may already be 'strangling it' if you're losing sight of the target on report. Having shot for far more years than I care to admit 'free-hand' the move to quad sticks was a ruddy revelation to me. Solidity 'on target' out to ranges I had previously thought as ridiculous, and a good after-shot view of the target in order to observe impact and effect. The very thought of 'making sure it doesn't move with the shot' may be why you are pulling away/flinching once the lead is airborne.

Try to set yourself in a solid but comfortable stance with the rifle on target without flexing or pushing the sticks. Squeeze slowly with the rifle firm in your shoulder and you should easily be able to watch the shot land. The old maxim of "Every time the gun goes off it should come as a surprise" tells you a lot about trigger pull and rifle-hold ;)
Unless another bean-launcher (.308-ist) comes along to dispel this of course. It's worked fine for me so far with my .270 :)

Damned shame you're not closer or I'd spend an hour or two down my zeroing range with you and see if I could help further.
That offer is superb. I think the distance shouldnt put DaveNeal off.
To have a offer like that , and pointers from you too .
Better than being left annoyed .

You will have some muzzle bounce off of Quad sticks in my experience. The .308 is just like that even with a moderator in a way that my friend’s 6.5 CM just isn’t. You will lose your sight picture sometimes as a result. Therefore I don’t think you’re doing anything wrong. A more weighty mode may help. You can try different grips, I point my index finger along the stock at the target whilst applying moderate pressure to the stock (not touching the barrel at all) - this seems to work for me particularly if my Harris bipod is fitted folded up.

I tend to try and hold the front of the sling behind the front yoke - worth pulling more down than trying to marry it to the front yoke ? not a harris but my pod is front facing, I guess it;s only ounces tho :-(

Yes, that could work. I think if you want to shoot .308 you’ll have to get used to it (the muzzle bounce) in the end. I shoot .308 in a 20” barrel T3 so know what you mean despite using a relatively heavy moderator. Whilst not a 6.5 CM fan per se I experience much less flip when using one - a clear advantage as watching the strike on a deer is hugely informative. If 6.5 CM wasn’t currently banned on MoD ranges (I’m DDM so this is important) I’d probably buy one and give it a go.

With limulus sticks move front to touch rear of bipod. Rear is v close to rear sling sling stud. Then as per the excellent video. If you need to pan alot lift L legs and pivot on R. Dead easy once you have had some practice. I also find sticks work better with heavier rifles.

as per, really just checking what I think I'm doing wrong

quads, .308 - I seem to have a pivoting issue when firing and lose sight of the target ( for tracking / followup ) - am I looking to generate more of an artillery hold like using a springer or am I just not handling the recoil properly ?

I'm not particularly loose with my hold but I'm deffo not strangling the life out of it ( trying to avoid a pre flinch and dragging the shot away somewhere nasty )

What rifle are you using?
I have a rem700 SPS in 308 and that has a nasty tendency to pitch to the right if it’s not held tightly.
None of my other deer rifles do this so it’s either a 308 thing or a Remington thing!

tikka 3x CTR, Alpex D/N scope, Deben ( ? ) bipod - not the lightest of things. and it's properly a laser, it's just that recoil tilting my sight after the shot picture up :-( I'm gonna try the 'clamp the damn thing down' method start of March ( BDS at 100yds and 3ooyds ). I might try way lighter load but I cant see 110 vs 150 is gonna make much diff ( open to education obv )

I had the rocking bit when I went from tripod to 4 it puts you on a back foot very quickly

Chill out, get a fifth leg and a box of 22 LR and go practice, after 50 rounds you’ll wonder what the fuss was all about you’ll be shooting fob on 👍
Good luck
Phil
