Raw dog food……where do you get yours?

I use raw chicken carcasses. £5 for 11-12kg. Find a local poultry supplier, they can usually supply them.
I use the same as my butcher gets them in for me but charges £1/kg so I'd be interested to find out where you get yours or if there are any direct producers near me. I usually buy 30kg at a time and a whatever veg is going cheap and then run it all through a mincer and stick in 1kg food tubs. Looks just like the Nature's Menu stuff but 1/4 the price.

I reckon whole rabbits, guts in, fur on, are the most complete and consistent diet you can possibly get for dogs, and in handy sized portions too! For years I fed my dogs nothing but, and they've never been so healthy before or since. Shame myxi put paid to that. A pure meat diet is no good. Some vegetables are needed too. Gut content provides that.
I can smell their farts from here and I’m in south Worcestershire!!😷

They used to be free then have crept up over the last few years as they’ve cotton onto the raw dog food trade. They’re bought direct from the producers by the pallet load. I just feed them whole. 4-5 morning and night.

Shoot it myself.
Can't see why a stalker or rough shooter would want to buy raw dog food?
Yep same here, my dogs get half dry normal dog food and half fresh meat either rabbits or venison minced, it’s only what I shoot, I’ve got two Teckles and they thrive on it and really look forward to food time

I've got a big chest freezer but not that big😂 maybe if I can find a place local then I can pick them up direct and at least cut out the butcher who sometimes has terrible communication so I end up running out. I used to feed whole but it takes up more space and my wife prefers being able to tip a pot in his bowl rather than carcasses🤷🏻‍♂️

The wholesaler I get them from has about 4-5 pallets a week. I just pick up as and when. Very popular around my way as very cheap way to feed. Worth contacting the local chicken distributor as they’ll be able to get them in.

All mine comes from ae abattoir, used to be 25p a kilo minced and packed, gone up to £1 kilo now cos all the food manufacturers are bidding on stuff that they used to have to pay to dispose of

Mine get the feet and head first then once that's gone they get the whole carcass axed in half after I've finished butchering it. At times when I'm not processing venison they get dry biscuits with the odd raw egg.

Dried dog food and tinned, with a splash of cod liver oil or a tin of sardines a couple of times a week. They also get kitchen leftovers. Good venison and game is for human consumption, although the dogs do get processing scraps.

Natural Instinct working dog 1kg tubs of bone and meat. Coupled with Akela 80:20 kibble and an egg, pheasant leg, bit of rabbit, most nights and a venison rib or vertebrae once or twice a week.

What mincer do you use ? I am after one that can deal with rabbit and chicken carcasses ?
Thanks

I have an Andrew James one that I got on eBay cheap. It seems to handle chicken carcasses just fine as long as they are chopped into strips that fit down the chute. I reguarly do about 30kg of carcasses in one go and it does them absolutely fine. I've thought of getting a bigger/better mincer but this is still going strong and is more than enough.

And there you have it ,no need to write anything else .
Time.

Time to get it and time to prepare it plus not everyone lives on a farm or has a garden where a dog can tear apart a whole rabbit at their leisure or somewhere their small kids won't go picking up or playing in a pile of rabbit guts and blood.

For £25 and an hour of my time I can mince chicken carcasses (with venison scraps) into 1kg tubs and freeze them and it's then convenient, not time consuming and is cleaner for the kids. The dog still gets venison bones to chew on and work his jaw and keep his teeth clean.
