Does anyone use these with success, are they expensive to run and do they have pitfalls? Where is best to buy them? Thanks

All the time. Make sure it takes at least 8 AA batteries and use Energizer lithium.

Make sure you have a good 3db gsin antenna or better.

Bought mine off Ebay and use micro sim card. Look for one that takes at least 32Mb sd card and has at least 0.5sec trigger time. If you can get one with 940nm led even better.

Got several spypoint cell link and if you stick to the 100 free photos a month the only cost Is a set of batteries every 9 months.

As has been said, the SpyPoint Cell link is a relatively inexpensive way to upgrade an existing camera. The Spypoint Link Micro LTE is an all in one unit, 100 photos per month free - and RRP's at £200. It's a great unit, works well

I have a SPYPOINT trail cam. Works pretty well, but you need to shell out extra for a 16gb memory card on top of the £200 cost. Then you need to test it works 100% before leaving site else you will be going back the next day. Speaks the voice of experience!

Mine is on a boar feed station so I have about 30,000 pictures of squirrels and pheasants during the day then boar and deer at night. For this use the 100 free photos doesn’t last long but the unlimited plan isn’t that bad.

I use this cam for working out boar feeding patterns and times. So far I have worked out that if I am at home asleep or having a beer boar are there. If I am in a high Seat waiting for boar then they are at their home having a sleep or drinking a beer. Such is life but it is very werid knowing that there is something at your bait station right now 20 miles down the road.

I have had the same thing with squirrels taking my free images, two things I have tried that work- set the camera lower down and point it upwards slightly, so you are not covering the ground, or if you are not interested in daytime photos, then you can amend the schedule so that the camera only triggers at night.

Failing that, if I get a load of sheep in the woods triggering it lots, you can just turn off the cellular function on the app and simply turn it back on a few hours later.

Great tips = also worth changing the sensitivity so it only picks up larger species.

Well it arrived today thanks to Bushwear being really efficient. Micro SD card bought from Argos and almost two handfuls of batteries later it was ready. I formatted the SD card before switching it on as advised on a YouTube channel and linked camera to phone via the QR code and the app.... so far so good and it has sent me a picture of an odd middle aged bloke wandering aimlessly around my field.... I’m sure it can’t be me as I look ten years younger than that guy!! 😫 other than that it was dead easy to set up and seems miles better quality than the Ltl Acorn cameras I have used before

Are you not able to set the operating time start and stop within the Spypoint like one can in most other cameras? I usually have some of mine set for an hour or so before sunset to an hour or two after sunrise, but off during daytime, for example.

Yes you can. I am just lazy and don’t play with the settings.
