BASC launched their Register of competent deer stalkers a few months back - (1st question)- did anyone have any experience of this? did it generate any enquiries / permissions?

AND, if so, (2nd question) - would a similar scheme work to marry up people who want to shoot grey squirrels with land owners?

What was the purpose of the register?
"The BASC register of competent deer stalkers is an initiative which seeks to open up deer management opportunities for BASC members. The aim of the register is to connect experienced deer stalkers holding BASC membership with landowners, government agencies or institutional bodies looking for individuals to carry out deer management on their land."

Q1 No
Q2 No, probably not, based on experience relating to Q1

Contacted by BASC last month to act as a mentor, local guy needing help - we have started the process of getting FAC, DSC and has resulted in me getting excellent new permission. Couldn't have worked out better.
That can't be correct, didn't you know there is NO deer stalking available anywhere in the UK, or so I'm frequently told on here 😂

As a mentor I thought your job was to mentor the person and not do the stalking?.....
If you think about it its both really, especially with a novice - permission was an estate thank you

mentoring (present participle)
advise or train (someone, especially a younger colleague):

A year on from this post and scheme....has anyone actually been put in contact with a land owner and got any deer stalking via BASC?
