Rimfire Target shooting

I went back out to test ammo in the T1X. The wind was really clipping so I shot at 50 yards. SK Biathalon screwed them all into a 30 caliber when I didn't screw up. GECO "Semi Auto 22LR" shot very well for a $2.25 a box ammo. Most into a a small ragged hole with a couple out but still under 1/2 inch. Norma Match and Norma TAC both exhibited unaccountable fliers. Three out of ten, from three different rifles: A Ruger Precision, a CZ 452 Varmint and my T1X. All groups were 10 shots.

You tend to forget how strenuous it is to shoot small bore for group off a bipod. It is hard to concentrate on follow through especially when the weather isn't cooperating.

To reward ourselves for such dedication we pulled out steel targets and the binary triggered AR-22's and burned 1500-1700 rounds of 22LR in about 2 hours. It was all grin-worthy. Very much fun...~Muir

What level of competition will you be shooting? If it's not too serious, try one of the old, classic .22 target rifles, such as a BSA Martini International or a BSA Century; they're all available dirt cheap. The old Russian Vostok rifles can also be had very cheaply.
In many cases you can buy a complete rifle for less than £100 and when you grow tired of it, scrap the rifle and sell the sights separately and make a profit.

You can also shoot in the Classic and Veteran Winter League Postal Competition. Which along with other interesting info you'll find here.
