Roe bucks fighting this evening

Just in from a 2hr dog walk. Walking down a overgrown bridle path my partner stopped and said look roe. She could hear antlers crashing. Finding a thinner spot I could see 4 roe bucks. 2 yearlings and two v mature 6 pointers. The two mature bucks were having a major fight. No holds barred. Several times one was thrown into the air. I tried to video the fight but forgot to tap the screen so alas no video. The young bucks were watching intently. The fight lasted ages several minutes and eventually the victor chased off the looser. He looked a very good buck.

On the 30th we drove up to a field and a neighboring piece of moor we see roe on frequently they eat the bog myrtle that grows on it, as we got in and drove too the moorland gate we noticed two deer sprinting towards us on my left on the moor we were confused as we hadn't spooked them (this particular place, the vehicle is never anywhere close to the deer so they never caught on that It means bad news) and obviously they were in full sprint.

We turned back around and headed back in that time I watched them run back over the place they came from, we moved our way up there and hopped the new fencing and got onto the adjacent stone wall, ideally whenever were out "I" am the intended shooter but the deer sprinted back over the hill and my mate was in front so he took the shot, turns out it was two bucks hard chasing each other both about the same size we got the one.

neat sight, not every day you see them doing that they were probably covering a good 400-600 meter ground and I'm sure were tussling over the hill.

Up in Fife I have three good bucks all jostling for a good territory - just over the boundary fence. Haven’t seen them actually locking horns, just chasing and barking at each other.

This fight was full on quite violent. Heads locked and agressive. The grass was long so obscured the view but it was the sight of an animal being thrown or jumping in the air which was remarkable. I am so annoyed not to have got it on video.

Have found more than once a broken antler tip either lodged in the back of the skull or embedded to the bone of a slain animal. No holds barred, for certain. A buck recently shot had the black skin hanging off his nose, just dull orange fleshy skin on the most of it, and obvious wounds from fighting.

I watched a couple on Tuesday night battling on recently planted barley. Sometimes they were so obscured by the dustcloud they stirred you could barely see them. Bit quieter now, and the victor is one of the best bucks I've seen here in recent years. He's going to get a free pass for this years I think

Shot a young buck about 3 weeks ago wile skinning him pulled his jacket off over his rump a big blob of yellow puss shot out & hit me on the shoulder thick as custard.
Finished skinning him got a proper look at it a tine mark a good 2 inches in his rump ! He wasn’t a bad buck means there’s a bigger or better one still about
Just cut bit infected meat out rest Was fine

No fighting but Wifey and I have seen a roe buck and doe together almost every morning for the last 8 months.
The usually make their way along the outside of a football pitch feeding as the go. They then disappear through a gap in some undergrowth.
For the last week the buck has been alone doing the same routine, perhaps taking half an hour to travel from entry to exit of this strip of land.
It a very fine buck and probably a medal head from watching through binns.
I have access to ambush these deer but will leave them as there aren’t enough in town to warrant shooting any.
I’m assuming that the doe has given birth very recently and that’s the reason for her no show these days, what think you?
Very poor phone pic from this morning, buck is in the far corner were the metal barrier rail ends.
Ken.
