Rooks and Crow decoying advice pls.

Lots of good advice here.
what I would add is use as many decoys as you can get hold of. I have found the more the better.
Then add shot ones to the pattern. Once I then start to add dead birds to the pattern the crows come in with a lot more confidence.
And yes, good camo and sit still.
I hope this helps.

Like mentioned before a good hide and remaining still till the last second is essential.

The bigger the pattern the better and slowly replace deeks with deads with their heads up on kebab sticks.

Electronic pigeon flapper also work well with a corvid, giving movement.

Best of luck

Its like pigeon shooting in the respect that you need to be where the birds want to be it definitely worth doing recon first however they do seem to move on quick normally with a couple of days. Another thing Ive noticed when theres good numbers they come in to the decoys in pairs one bird high one low, so you either shot high then low to get both or let low land high will then circle and come in low shoot him then shoot the other as it gets up. I dont know if anyone else has noticed that but it definitely how they fly where i shoot. If a good flock come in at once you normally get a laugh at the arial acrobatics as well , they have a sparodic way of flying randomly dropping and rolling

What.. just seen you are in Forest Row.
we’re in the same village

Tompsets bank!
You in Fro too?

Great advice lads, really appreciate it.
The little practical experience I have picked up so far and what has been confirmed here too.
~Dead birds as decoys seem to pull them in much closer keener.
~Camo is key and stay low till the very last minute unless you can shoot like George Digweed.

~No point putting decoys out on a field that the birds have moved off and aren't naturally feeding on any more.

If you see two Rooks, they are Crows.
If you see more than two Crows, they are Rooks.
Soon be time for Rooks to find some laid cereals in some remote corner of a field. That's when you can be of use to the grower.

Yep, Priory road

Best fun I used to have in my teens we would ride our moter bikes to my permission shotguns strapeds to our backs and a ferritt in the box, pick up a rabbit road kill on the way peg down the jill on a 3ft lead open up the rabbit and put it just out of reach we could shoot all day long as the crows would keep mobbing.

Ive shot bags of crows of up to 350 a time, the secret is flock covered decoys, i start with around 25, and you must have a perfect hide with high sides hide under as they will see you from at least afield away, if there high above circling around, there just looking, keep still because there not coming in, you need a good 32g shell to drop them as well, also be there just before light if you can as they start flying in the dark, and its important to nail as many as you can first thing, best of luck, crow shooting is a great sport.
