You piqued my curiosity. I went to the ammo locker and measured the old Century Arms Imports. As I remembered, the 7.62x54 and the 303 were loaded with .310 (+/- a few tenths) bullets. This must have been a cost cutting measure back in the day for the fledgling American market. I bought it mostly for the brass which was unobtainium back then. I spent too may hours cleaning the copper from the bore of my old Nagants and Lee's to shoot much jacketed.
I have rebarreled many 1950 FN Mausers imported by the Sears-Roebuck chain back in the 1960's. Brand new 243's would print bullets sideways at 15 yards because the barrels were contracted through Marlin and had microgroove rifling. The bullets blew past the "scratchings" and went wild weasel. In your case, I'd have no clue. Very strange.~Muir
