S&B 2.5-10x56 still good?

In the future il likely be on the lookout for another fixed power tho with a german 1 reticle. I just want one good variable to use when i pack "light" and dont want to bring binos.

The 1 reticle for me beats all the drawback of a fat reticle because i never cover the target with it. I have noticed on my Zeiss with no7 reticle that shooting hare in the head can be a guessing game.

on that note, if by any chanse someone has a zeiss diatal 8x56 T* with a post reticle and they prefer the A7 reticle, iam open to a trade and willing to pay a bit extra to compensate any difference on value (mine has some cosmetic damage on the tube)

i would put it in the classifieds but i dont have permission to post there yet.

So the S&B turns out to be nearly ubusable for me i have identified my issue with the S&B as flare. At sunset or in moonlight it develops white blots in the field of view that escalate into a complete haze. Is this something a damaged scope could cause or just a result of the 1995 coatings not being up to it. I dont want to completely write off S&B klassiks based on one example but this is horrendous. has anyone seen this kind of flare in their newer klassik scopes?

Send it off for a service ! If your the first owner its free . I am still using my S+ Bender on three of my Rifles they are decades old and still good , I had the Big set off for a service and the factory spent a good few hundred to make them like new ( even changed the casing because it had ingrained mud marring the outer

I am probably the third owner. A local specialist charges 90 euro for basic service

even if you dont keep them they should look better and sell better , you might also have a lot more function out of them if you kept them It costs to be in buisness a main dealer garage will be more than that for a 20 year old Kid for a hour - just to balance things out

OK but the 1st FP S&B 3 -12x50 I own has an incredibly wide aiming reticle at max power which is great for 'thereabouts' alignment on a beast at dusk but not much else IMHO. It came with a rifle I've recently purchased and may well have to go if I can locate a 2nd FP replacement with a 57mm outside objective diameter.

Ist focal plane reticle cover same amount of target on low power as it does on high power. 🙂

Superb scopes. I again have had one for a long time, have had and still own many of the top end Scmidts, Ziess, Swaro’s, Nightforce etc and all get sold on and swapped but the good old 2.5-10x56 S&B always finds it’s way back onto a rifle. It’s bomb proof, glass is as good as the rest and plain simple to use. I had mine serviced a while back, the objective glass replaced where it had got scratched pretty bad and had the external windage and elevation turrets fitted at the same time, wish I only had the elevation done as never use the windage turret in the field.
