SAGA Insurance - Robbing b******s!

Watch out if you insure with Adrian Flux, sure enough you will get a cheaper price to get your business but expect a hefty hike in the renewal price, mine went from just under £ 300 to £ 460. In fairness to Flux I don't think that they are any different to any other broker, it seems to be an industry wide problem....a good price to get your custom and then sting you for loyalty
I`m with Flux for my camper and can`t wait to get away from them. They`re a nightmare to deal with.

Loyalty is a thing of the past. Often, good service is also something that is entirely expendable because that costs them money. With vehicle in insurance, you have got to have it (thankfully) but I bet if you didn't, the deals you could get would be a whole lot better.

Been with Admiral for few years now 'multi car' myself & the wife as drivers on all vehicles, just renewed end July this year (3 vehicles/protected NCB) - 017 Toyota CHR Hybrid, 015 A4 2.0 Cabriolet & my old 04 Plate 2.0 Diesel Freelander - £650.00 for the three , shopped around couldnt get it matched never mind bettered, youngest daughter just passed her test, so 'bank of dad' has just insured her first car 013 1.2 Corsa - £850 again through Admiral - with black box for 3 months, she has 1 years NCB as I took out policy for her when she started to learn, which was only £420 as a learner driver, but obviously gave her 12 months NCB , again best deal I was quoted.

When I was at college a few centuries ago I remember in social studies being told that if you had more than 50K you did not need road insurance and that fact (if it is so) has stuck in the dusty edge of my grey matter for all this time. Is that still the case? of course inflation would hike up the amount.

Been with Saga for 4 years, first renewal they were competitive, then the next renewal they hiked it.
I did the comparison sites and found the cheapest quote, phoned Saga, told them (after a moan) I had a much cheaper quote, they bettered it.
Next renewal, they were back to being competitive.

Now I have had to use their services, found them and the legal team they used very good, so I am happy to stick with them, unless they start taking the proverbial

You are right. In 1991 it was half a million pounds though, don't know what it is now. And you had to actually deposit that money with The Accountant General of the Supreme Court. Otherwise, you've got to have at least third party insurance and that has been the case since 1930. These days, the cops can seize an uninsured vehicle.

I don't know today's sum bu certainly Securicor and similar used to do this, yes, for their vehicles.

Suggest you read my thread on this, in essence my 4x4 insurance was with AF and was creeping up. This year was contacted by Lancaster insurance, who providing insurance through the same syndicate as AF was nearly £70 less than AF. Insurance premium now back to same as 3 years ago.

I contacted Lancaster just after I called Adrian Flux but they said that they could not give me a quote because of my post code, which I thought was strange, the area's not that bad. As it is Adrian Flux found me a quote that was less than my insurance with Saga was a year ago - Last year Saga charged £615.19 but Adrian Flux have just got me the same coverage for £564.95 (Which includes the interest on the monthly payment plan which I always have) which I have accepted!
However, next year I will shop about yet again and try to get one with a "New Customer Bonus" to try to make things cheaper again.

What car are you driving I have a grand vitara and it is about £150 a year with Swinton I must have a good postcode

All insurance companies are the same!

I've generally found Admiral/Elephant to be fairly reasonable price wise (especially considering we use them for quite a few different things and apparently get a multi-policy discount), but they hiked the house insurance from just over £200 to well over £300 this year, a 49% price hike, and have said they will only come down about half of that.

We'll be looking around for a cheaper quote, the thieving swine!

I had the same thing when I lived in London. First year I had my car up there it was £400, then a grand the following year but I got it down to £750 and the next year it was £1500! When I challenged the various insurers I spoke to they said "oh we've regraded your area as higher risk". So in summary, I am legally obliged to buy your product and you have completely free will to hike the prices as you see fit? "Yes".

So I sold the car.

Its a complete joke! Especially at a time when wages arent really going up... By the time you factor in 50% increases in insurance policies, season tickets going up 3.5% on the trains plus other smaller hikes in just about everything and you're quickly taking a pay cut in real terms year on year.
