Sako 22-250

You bought small rifle primers, do you also have small primer brass? Traditionally 22-250 is large rifle.

Oh ffs, I've never reloaded before and bought what Malmo suggested. The brass I have are from what I've shot, Hornady 50g V-Max. They're closed today and it'll be next weekend before I'm back up here to swap them 🙄

If you fancied a ride out, I can let you have some CCI Large f.o.c.
Or Murom / Magtech if you preferred.

Thanks for your generous offer but they can swap these. I live east of Manchester but have a caravan up near Malmo. It just means I can't make any rounds up this week. That's not a problem because having never reloaded before, I need to read up and watch YouTube again so I get it right 😬.

I do have a box of Sellior & Bellot and a handful of Hornady and Sako rounds in the safe, so I can get out and put a few down the new barrel.

Again, thank you for the offer. Top man 👍

No probs, just remember whatever you load up with your Sellier's ... may be a different result with other makes (Possibly) :thumb:

You might want to keep the small rifle primers for the 223 you mentioned, and buy another box of large rifle primers.
Yep, checked my 223 cases last night and noticed they were the small ones so I'll keep what I have and get some large for the 22.250 👍

Hi all and sorry it's been so long. I've only had the gun out three times. I'm soo busy at the moment.

1st time to put some factory rounds down the barrel and 'run it in'. Still managed a sub MOA leaning on the truck.
2nd time, I tried some home loads in 55G Berger HP's & 60 Hornady VMax using 28 30 & 32 grains of N140. It soon became apparent that the barrel preferred the 60 grain and shot better with the 32 grain load.

The third time, I managed to get out, which was only two weeks ago, I'd loaded up some 60g VMax with 34, 35, and 36 grains of N140.
I couldn't quite get stretched out to a hundred yards with a safe backstop, so I had to settle at just less than 90, and, to be honest, there's not much in it.
34g 0.778Moa
35g 0.442 Moa
36g 0.537 Moa

If I wanted to, I could probably develop a load that would make this the 'absolute tac driver' that the lying owner of Cheshire Con Room promised me when they sold me the gun with a burnt-out barrel. However, any of those loads would certainly outperform what I could do.

Again, thanks to the gentlemen involved and for the support of the forum members.

Cheers.
Geoff.
