Is anyone actually surprised ?
Look on the bright side Malc, at least we’ll get a plentifu’ supply of bananas now... oh, wait....Surely this must enlighten even more folk that Scotland is truly now devoid of democracy and as corrupt as a third world dictatorship.
We can only hope enough people have now been alienated by the SNP as to use their vote tactically in the upcoming election.
My gut tells me that things have changed since the last referendum. Clearly, we've had Brexit and all that goes with it. And giving the independence vote to 16 and 17 year olds who have frankly little geo-political knowledge, experience or sense of history may help tip the balance.Surely this must enlighten even more folk that Scotland is truly now devoid of democracy and as corrupt as a third world dictatorship.

I think you underestimate the doubt surrounding all the very real unanswered questions and problems that still remain as intractable as last time: basic funding, and the implications of borrowing on the open market for same on inflationary pressures, the currency question, and once again the same implications on inflationary pressures - do you really think a majority of people are going to give up their currency and assets valued in Sterling for a new, unknown and certainly devalued one in such turbulent times with little by way of ‘bananas’ to back up same?My gut tells me that things have changed since the last referendum. Especially if the question is phrased as "Should Scotland be an independent country? Yes or No".
There is no middle ground offered so it becomes a binary choice between two polar extremes.
Salmond lost the last one, as he had no answers to what would happen afterwards, if successful. And, while I can't see this being any different this time round, I have a feeling we may have Hadrian's wall back before we know it.
Sorry Woody, with you on most things but saying your support isn't given at any cost is just a way of saying "I want my cake, but I want that one, if I don't get it I won't have one". Rather a selfish way saying "I only want it if it's better than what we have now, but I don't want to pay for it".Even as a proponent of Scottish Independence, this makes me truly afraid for my country. I've made no secret of my wish to see Scotland an Independent country, but I hope you all also appreciate that my support isn't given at any cost, nor is it borne of any anti-English sentiment whatsoever.
