Sammi spec tolerances

These questions are doing my head in, but now I see what they were leading up to.
I don't know the answer but logic would suggest they're made to seater die dimensions for clearance.
You whack the article enclosed with a mallet to size the neck.
Does the precision that the Loader body is made to matter?

Doing your head in??? In what way? And on the second point - Well...yes...if you “whack” it in too far it will change the resize and effectively bump the shoulder back or not resize enough.

and I’m not sure due dims are posted anywhere.

It is quite simple...

The dimensions given for the cartridge (in CIP and SAAMI) are maximum dimensions. The dimensions given for the chamber are minimum dimensions.

CIP do not give general tolerances on their drawings. They do specify some tolerances on cartridges. Headspace tolerances and general tolerances for pressures gun chambers are given in another place on the CIP website. (Next column along).

SAAMI give general tolerances on both cartridges and chambers - minus tolerances for cartridges and plus tolerances for chambers.

Just how does one set the shoulder back?

The instructions say it sizes the neck only (2), so the body is oversized. It must have some measure of clearance to take cases fired in any chamber.

Autoloading Guns
Autoloading guns will function dependably only if the ammunition has been full length sized.
This tool sizes only the neck and if used for loading an autoloading gun, may cause the gun to jam.
It is not recommended for hunting, but may work satisfactorily for target or plinking

You insert the case, then whack it until it comes to a stop.

With a plastic mallet or piece of wood, drive the case into the tool flush with the end.

What I mean is that if you were too short on the machining it would effectively stop at the shoulder and start to bell the case walls out with every whack, effectively moving the shoulder back towards the case head....sorry, maybe wasn’t transferring that to text very well...

When I was measuring to a tolerance it was said to be correct at a temp of 20 degrees C were the component and the measuring equipment was all at this temp .
