Scope for stalking and target?

I like the few things that I have read about the S&B Polar models.

For anyone wondering I went for Hawke Endurance 30 WA SF 4-16x50 - LRC. Mounted on my Mauser M18, all good for target and will be taking it out stalking in 2 weeks.

Your right the ballistic turrets are pretty annoying and never that accurate. If I had one I’d just use it in mill or moa setting. I like a dial turret as it’s not to fiddly some of the cap ones can be a little fiddly and a zero stop is nice but your right they all work fine

Hmm.... if its a quality scope I would argue the turrets are accurate but the ballistics, weather and the pilot become the source of error - amongst other things

That’s kind of what I’m saying the Ballistic solution in the drop compensation turret is not that accurate for any given load or conditions. At least I find a mil turret and worked out drops better. But each to his own.

It might still not be the turret. But the day to day variations may affect the shots. Nothing is 100%. Identifying the variations is the skill. But there are sooooo many influences involved here - its impossible to catch the tail you are chasing.

Not sure if we are not saying the same thing here? Basically one fixed ballistic solution (ie a bdc turret) will not suit all conditions. Hence a moa or mil rad turret and calculated drops and windage for the conditions might be better in some circumstances. It’s the same thing really I suppose… but I find it easier that way ie 17clicks today at 400m distance rather than the 400m bdc is off by 3 clicks today. It matters little as bdc turrets are just an aid to a elevation turret which works the same whatever the numbers say.
