Scopes with a rail on the bottom, what are they called?

Thanks guys. A couple of pictures of it as it is. I have the claws but the scope is broken, and to be honest at 2.75x zoom I'd like a bit more anyway. It would work nicely with a 4x or 6x. I've seen the modern "rail" scopes but that's not it. I think the 70 degree dovetail Rider describes covers it pretty accurately, so I'll try searching for that. It is indeed drilled where the claws are fitted.

I don't want anything crazy fancy or modern. A Zeiss Jena 6x like I had on my old Brno 602 .375H&H would be spot on. I certainly don't want to put a rail on my drilling, as functional as that may be. I think this covers it nicely... "Mention of a "rail" is a call to arms for even the most tolerant disciple of blued steel & walnut"

I have a good clear 6x42 (no makers mark except germany 16858 so it looks like it came out of Wetzler) that would fit it. £80 plus postage if you are interested.

Thanks. That's just what I wanted but I've been mulling over this today and I think there's a bit of a snag with my idea of getting more magnification. Both my claws are the same height which suggests I need a straight tube rather than one with a mount on an objective bell. Is it safe to assume that the two rails aren't in line with the tube and I'd need a higher rear mount to put the scope in line with the barrel?

Can you do a picture of the scope on the gun as a side view so that I can see how much clearance there is, as the front bell needs to swing down somewhat to get the rear claw up and out of the rear mounting block, usually the bell drops down around 6-8 mm. A measurement of the old scopes movement swing will help me, ie how many mm does it need to drop down to clear the rear mount?

I would only have rail mount scopes. I had Zeiss rail and now Leica rail. Alan Rhône is good as are others who understand rail systems. Easy to mount. They do not sit any higher if the correct system is purchased. As a Blaser owner, rail is the way to go. You can get Rechnagel or Apel (EAW), both have a number of rail options.

Here is the best one that I have, a100% brilliant picture inside no faults 6x42 (the makers mark carl zeiss diatal). The front dovetail mounting block to the rifle/drilling is included, rear blocks are easy to obtain.
