Scotland the Brave??

It 's little surprise really but Scotland is a predominantly socialist country we are a small country with a population of
around 5.3 million the majority of.whom live in the central belt ex miners,steel workers, ship building workers, ex car plant workers all of which traditionally voted socialist mostly labour even some voted communist there were a lot
of communist sympathisers amongst shipyard workers
So due to the large amount of socialist voters it will always be either labour or SNP first past the post
Its true that the majority of landowners will vote Tory but that will not be enough to make much of a difference for most
Scots maggie put an end to Scots in general voting Tory and if nothing else we have a reputation for taking a long time to forgive.
The SNP used to have a big following among rural workers but the parties shift in policy has largely put an end to that with their plans to break up estates, rewilding, community buy outs etc all of which while disastrous for rural workers
seems like good ideas to those who live in the central belt.
Lib. Dems seem to get good results in some of the islands but as a party they are treated by some suspicion by many
Scots remember what I said about us taking a longtime to forgive we take even longer to forget , when ever Liberals are
mention that the last time we had a Liberal Goverment they almost bankrupted the country that was close on a hundred years ago, no they can't be trusted, see what I mean about along time to forgive.

The SNP were good as a protest party they managed to get a lot done for Scotland and devolution could have been
very good for us ,but the power went to their heads and all they seem to be able to think of these days separatism.
and they want to be the Governing party
So much for the party that fought to make things better for Scotlands people who said that if Scotland ever became
Independent their job would be done there would be no further need for the SNP and there would be elections to select a
new Government .
While there may well be elections if and when we become independent the still want to be the ruling party.
God only knows what sort of mess the country will be in by then if that ever happens as they seem to have lost the plot.

Quite funny really, the only time I didn't vote Tory was when I lived in the Borders. I questioned the prospective MP's about field sports and was very impressed with the attitude of the Liberal, so voted for him .Now I just write "None of these" across the slip.

This Blog rather says it all. A constitutional mess between Scotland and the rest of the UK will be very bad for everyone, especially as we try to rebuild post pandemic and BREXIT.

The system here does not necessarily mean the the early announced contingency votes will follow with the list votes, in fact it can be quite to opposite. Hopefully........

Allocating the 56 regional 'list' seats by PR compensates the other parties who didn't get many constituency seats. The SNP will only get a handful of these no matter what. The issue will be the Scottish Greens, who I think will get 5 or 6 seats from their chunk of the national vote.
The SNP have always said calling a referendum depends on 65 'pro-independence' MSPs getting elected, not on the SNP getting the 65 seat majority themselves. Either result is bound to happen now.

Presumably they are hoping that the German tax payer will send them their gyros in place of the English

We in England are largely not left wing

The negative is that we would lose a great and important part of the UK

However in return we would gain some freedom from a political left wing yoke and a significant economic drain

As for joining the EU

I can't see the EU surviving, let alone welcoming in another economic basket case to be paid for from diminishing coffers

Well we should all now be familiar with the reality of a close vote and that however small the majority we accept the will of the people. Why then do so many South of the Border appear unable to accept this in the context of the SNP’s clearly stated policies that however credible or otherwise, are demonstrably to the electorate’s liking?

I hasten to add that I currently think that independence would be an extraordinarily bad idea and an act of even more extreme foolishness than Brexit. I’m hanging on hoping that the list votes will counteract an outright SNP majority.

I would agree with that, while we may not like it thats what living in a democracy means.

That isn't what happened in either case. The outrage with Brexit was that because an overwhelming Europhile Parliament and media establishment disagreed with the result they used slander, insults and project fear propaganda to try and discredit those who had voted for it and abused Parliamentary process to try and reverse it. The result, as we have seen, was to unite left and right voters and destroy old electoral certainties.

No one I'm aware of has suggested that any SNP majority is the result of gerrymandering on their part. Just that those policies they have put into effect in government have been disastrous and any coherent programme for an independent Scotland appears to be non-existent and they have been able to get away with this because the voting system in Scotland is a mess that would seem expressly designed to produce demagoguery, which is certainly what has happened an we have the Blair/Brown government to thank for this mess.

I love Scotland, got several friends up there would like them to stay as part of the union...
But i am now of the opinion that i really dont care that much if they go.
But it has to real independence, a border, your own currency, no hand outs...
The biggest plus would be not having to listen to the whinging poison dwarf who will not have Westminster blame when it goes t*ts up.

Why folk can’t see through all the BS astonishes me.
I get that Scotland is socialist, my own family largely from the areas and industries that had that view.
But even socialists can surely critique, hold to account, or even simply balance tax income versus expenditure.

The guiding principle of socialism is that when something turns out to be a catastrophic failure, it must be because you didn't do enough of it and the remedy is to repeat the same mistake but with greater fervour.

It's called the law of diminishing returns, or disappearing up your own a*se and it's the process by which Scotland came to be living under the rule-without-responsibility of an angry little parochial feudalist who would fail a 1950's primary school mathematics test.

And the answer, of course, when it all goes sour, all the money's gone and everyone's broke, will be to do it all again but really mean it this time...
