I cant beleive I've not seen anyone mention an Ardbeg yet. Some amazing releases from those guys. The Corryvreckan is 1 hell of a whisky.
Also love a Bunnahabhain, Dalmore, Glenfarclas, Aberlour & a special mention to my all time favorite, the Caol Ila 12.

Perfect with cola Tescos even sell it pre-mixed.
JD offer several other 'essential mixers' including :-
Ginger Ale. ...
Apple Juice. ...
Soda Water. ...
Lemon-Lime Soda. ...
Lemonade. ...
Mint Julep with a Tennesse Twist. ...
Warm Apple Pie.

Malt Whisky drinkers suggest nothing or (sometimes) a tiny drop of water..... I rest my case :)

Corryveckan is my favourite islay, main stream, malt. Can’t really find a better one that’s readily available imo . Always a top choice at the Edinburgh duty free.

currently next to fire, after a afternoon hill walk, with a nice speyside dailuaine. Part of Diageo flora & fauna range. a underrated malt, second only to clynelish IMO.

Just picked this up as a gift for the landowner of my permission, don't know if he's into peated stuff, good choice?A
@Morkai

As before, I have never tasted this.

However, your post prompted me to 'have a go'.

Consequently, this rather pleasant parcel just turned up, and will give me something to try when next I have a spare evening by a log fire...

I tend to avoid whisky in the better weather too
I was fortunate enough to be in Africa last November.

Daytime temperatures hovered around the 40c mark - it was warm.

Nights were not much better.

We slept out on one particular night (halfway up an inselberg) with only a camp fire and the zillions (I lost count at three hundred and nine) of stars for light.

The PH produced a bottle of Whisky (it may even have been Whiskey). It seemed way too warm to be drinking it.

We somehow manage to force it down.

I might have missed something but every japanese whisky I have tried smelt like cat ****.
Really?

I once drove past (actually I couldn't drive past it could I?) the English Whisky Company in Norfolk.

A real treat for any whisky/whiskey drinker.

I bought a couple of bottles - including a 1986 Single malt in anticipation of a significant anniversary. It was a bit of a gamble, but was one of the nicest bottles I have ever bought and I only wish I had cleared the shelf. You simply cannot find it anywhere now.

Any hoo.

To the point.

This shop also has a decent selection of Japanese whisky, and just for 'sh**s and giggles', I bought a bottle.
It was excellent - and no I am sorry, I cannot remember what it was called.😖

(m. 1920)
Rita Taketsuru 14 December 1896–17 January 1961, born Jessie Roberta Cowan, was a Scottish-Japanese businesswoman known as the wife of Masataka Taketsuru, the founder of Nikka Whisky.

Life

She was born into a doctor's family in Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire, a town near Glasgow. Of four siblings, Rita was the oldest, followed by her sister Isabella Lillian "Ella" Cowan, the third daughter Lucy, who was 3 years younger than Ella, and finally their younger brother Campbell.
Masataka Taketsuru entered Scotland's Glasgow University in 1918 to study organic chemistry and applied chemistry. At that time Rita's younger sister Ella, enrolled at the University's medical faculty, requested Masataka to instruct her younger brother Campbell in Judo.Masataka and Rita then met at the Cowan house. Having expressed his love to Rita, Masataka then revealed to her his wish to help in "making real whisky in Japan". They married in a simple ceremony at the register office in January 1920.After marrying, they moved to Japan that same year, and lived for a while in Osaka.
After Masataka opened the distillery in Yoichi in 1934 in Hokkaido

Was handed a gift pack today which included a glass, stirrer and a 13ml bottle of 50% bitters along with the all important Dingle single malt.

It's a bit early to kick off but hey ho it is Friday and it's been a tough week.

First time trying this bitters craic, really complements the whiskey.

Sláinte.
