Shooting Chair

I’ve used every conceivable fold up camping chair there is and they all ended up snapping on one of the joints, last night being the latest one. I thought this time id get a decent quality, purpose made chair, hopefully it’ll last a while 😬
Are you sure it’s not the weight to weld ratio? 👍

I've got the Bergara chair, purchased it for use in a pigeon hide, soon found the back was too vertical, the seat padding insufficient and the seat hight to low to the ground to be able to quickly stand. On a positive note the swivel seat is useful. But that may all just be me 😊

So I continue to look for a better option.

There's no perfect seat for every situation. With rifle main considerations are:

- how big sector you need to cover
- how much stability you need for shooting
- kind of related, how much noise/movement can you make w/o spooking the quarry
- carry, for how long and do you need to set up once or every once in a while
- and how comfortable you're able to get, taking the above in consideration

In addition to other replys so far, I'd highlight the ability to support your shooting hand elbow on either arm rest or your thigh, i.e. chair cannot be too high. And have a look on different carp chairs like suggested. One thing not mentioned yet is "director's chair". They're quite straight forward to set up and carry (if you can spare a hand), somewhat easier to cover a sector than folding camping chairs. But they do require flat ground. On that regard, 3 leg chairs fare usually better than 4 legged ones.

I don’t want one for shooting off, I shoot off a tripod, it’s just for sitting on while scanning fields for several hours.

Definitely a swivel chair then, one of my positions has a potential field of approach of 270 degrees and I find myself twisting my back and trying to look out of the very corner of my eye, I can’t turn my neck fully due to an old injury.

This has got me thinking about where I could strategically leave some cheap swivel chairs, probably modified as it gives me another excuse to potter in my workshop.

I tend to sit up in the same spots. I have made comfy sitting places using bits of dead trees. I use my loden gunslip as a comfortable seat, and sometimes use my ansitz sac I got in Germany. I have fallen asleep on many occasions.

Having comfortable natural seats means I don’t have to carry anything with me.

Lidl green folding picnic chair. Rifle sits on the garden owners picnic bench. Also have a carp fishing seat. Not yet needed. Decades ago purchased a folding seat with internal holder but buried in garage.
Folding picnic chair is just mine.
Use Bergara for pigeon decoying. But agree back is too upright. I added extra close cell padding on seat.
D

I saw Mark of A1 Decoy using one on a recent trip to Turkey and they looked as if they are a plastic type of material.
I take the point about the back being a bit upright tho.
I did see one guy using one and he sat on it back to front so the back was his hand rest !!
