Tartan Terrier, my support is just a length of aluminium bar with a 1/4 Whit threaded hole in the middle to take the Manfrotto quick release plate. it's nothing fancy and it won't win any awards for style but it works. I've wrapped it in electrical tape the wound an old scrim scarf around it so it won't scratch my gun.
