Shooting show 2013

Dreadful state of affairs....
3 people taking money at the entrance.. 6 food stalls!!! and 15,000+ people.... Total joke. I left because I was starving and didn't want to wait 1 hr for an overpriced crap burger.
Thinking about it.... It's a shame it wasn't ****ing down when I was waiting to go in (over 1 hr) as I would have gone home.

Went to buy but left empty handed.

Never again!

Got in ok, but was it packed !!!
As said above it looked like a free for all parking wise.

A friend knew a guy who worked there he only nipped down the road to put a sign up, two hours to get back in !!

The food was shocking despite going to a van with Ragley Estate fine food or something similar written on it.

I am so glad we only had to travel 10mins and did not have to pay to get in.
Certainly not one for the diary.

No traffic management plan or so it would appear. No control over car parking, crowded, disorganised makes you wonder about the safety and licencing arrangemets?

I'm wondering if I went to the same show! A short queue to get in, a bit of a walk across the show ground to the main entrance -but nothing to try the patience or bother the legs. Then straight in with pre-paid tickets, handed a complementary -and really good- show guide, and it was time to explore. Once in, there was more than enough to keep me interested and amused all day. And at the end I had no trouble at all getting out again after it closed at 4:30. Maybe I was lucky, but I'm going back again tomorrow to see/do the stuff I missed today.

It does sound like traffic and parking need a bit of a re-think for net year, but it's been so long since we had a dedicated shooting show that's this well supported by both the trade and the public, I think there's more to be happy about than to complain over. Then again, plenty of people seem to be happiest when they're moaning!

same for me and got good deals on what I brought so did the three others.

I do agree parking was ****, and expected loads of game to eat or try. I also agree NEC or LG as its now called would be perfect and get more in.

Does anyone know why they moved the show from Newark. It was spot on last year there, in fact it improved each year and then they decided to move it and make a right balls of it by the sounds of things.

Matt.

Thanks for ALL your advice causing two less footfalling to this disaster tomorrow. Roll on Kelso! Cheers, K

Two of us were set to go tomorrow. Not bothering now and stonleigh only 15 mins away. Think I'll go for a walk instead. Shame as I did want to look at some mods, set of gaiters some bullets, bino harness. I may not have bought them all but likely picked up the smaller items. I always bark at the entry fee, and they just keep going up. I can shop on-line for free. Thanks for the heads up for those of you who went today.

Woodmaster if you do change your mind and go to look at moderators tomorrow you might like to look up onelesscharlie. He's a site member and produces moderators that look quite robust. My mate was quite taken by the quality of them and the fact that they are fairly compact. Two other site members who happen to belong to the same rifle club as me have recently bought moderators off him so he seems to be making quite a impact within our small group of shooters.

im glad we had tickets sent out the que was huge to be honest i felt the venue was to small alot of stalls were so busy we didnt even bother looking i didnt feel many traders were doing many show deals but was alright bought some stuff i didnt really need as useall according to the mrs

Just got in after a long day, dumped my car in a ditch and jumped over the hedge in the end. However met some great exhibitors found some bullets I've been looking for and had a terrific deal with cluson on some lamping gear, going to get a mod from onelesscharlie they look great and drunk some of jelens beer. By 4 o'clock the place was deserted and we had a good time drooling over the exotic optics on show, it's amazing how quickly you forget the earlier stress and started having a good time.

Well the bloody show has cost me thousands !!! , we set off from devon at 05.30 journey was 3 hours exactly apart from the last 1/2 mile ,took all of 15minutes of my life to get into the car park , priority parking passes were a joke as were the parking staff , three of us queued for 3 mins to get in and had to wait for 1 minute as one of our crew only decided to come at the last minute so had to buy on the door. OK it got busy inside but no worse than xmas shopping with the wife..........( I do feel sorry for the disabled at the venue as it must have been worse for them to just see the stalls never mind get to them) I brought a small packed lunch with me and just had that ! You just know that the food is going to be crap when you have queues 50 people long as the cant cope with demand so quality goes out the window and call me tight but no way am i paying £5.50 for a under cooked meat burger ( I would say beef but they might not be:suss:) I did buy some donuts for us and a coffee , very nice too.

I spent some time at the open season stand drooling over and trying to find fault with a Blaser R8 , ive never seen one in the flesh before , after not finding any faults I will probably purchase one at some point (sako .243 for sale soon in classifieds:-D) hence the show costing me thousands:shock:

I spent way too long on the Swarovski stand and will no doubt have to get some rangefinding binos otherwise my comrades might never stalk alongside me again ! We will see but i am going to plug the sale of my Swarovski 8 x 30 rangefinding monocular in classifieds :thumb: which will go on sale shortly.

We all had a good day and spent very little really(apart from my mate Giles he has always been envious of my nomad quadrider jacket so now he has something very similar from them ! and he has bought a good looking and lightweight moderator from riflecraft) learnt alot and have seen some stuff that i thought would be good but looks crap.

If you go today at least you know what to expect from traffic parking etc so have fun and spend some of that hard earned.

Right, i can see daylight coming so its off stalking for me.............

go to the jagd and hund show at dortmund its cheaper 50 times better and is well organised we went for 2 days air fare hotel and entry to show for less than 100 quid and had a lovely time

Went to the show yesterday, very very slow getting in,not a good start.
Food  not good..
To say they could'nt organise a pi**up is not far off, not a beer tent to be found.
Hope its not there again,

Still!, There was the de-brief at the Hatton, ....... with some very interested, young, soon to be newbies!!!:norty::norty::norty::thumb:

Well I went today and there was none of the issues getting in thankfully and it wasn't too busy inside. Had a look around but didn't buy any of the list of thngs I went with and I had a couple of friends with me who were in the market for shotguns but also came away empty handed. It was a good morning out but nothing that I would have missed if I had stayed at home.

We did find the airsoft section quite amusing though! :-D
