Shooting socks

Hi guys, as you may have guessed from the title I am looking for recommendations on shooting socks with the season fast approaching. I’ve used all sorts over the years but tend to walk to sole out in no time. TIA

Can't recommend a sock specifically for stalking, but just checking that your boots fit? In my experience what wears socks out is walking about the house in them, or boots that are too big and your feet move around inside.

I wear merino wool socks if I have boots on - they don't smell when you've been in them all day, they wick and if you get **** wet through because your boots spring a leak they are still comfortable and warm.

Thanks for the reply Turnips. Yeah I can agree! My boots fit very well I’ve 4 pair of meindl in different models a pair of Han wag and a pair of dedito which all fit very well. I think a lot of it is jus sheer use as I can wear boots most every day in and out of season.

Have a look on here. Several long threads on this topic. If I can recall Darn tough appeared v highly regarded.

Buy in bulk from Asda "as I type" one spaniel has nicked the whole pack and the other pulled one from the pack. It is their way of building up to the season ahead.
I wear the same type all day in work boots so a couple hrs or half a day out shooting makes no difference.
With waders I have a couple of longer pairs to help the trousers from rolling back up.

Bridgedale, been all over the world, worn them every day for the past 10+ years and have maybe got one or two replacments in that time.

I have about 10 pairs and have walked thousands upon thousands of miles in them Including various expeditions aswell as military service. Worn in -20 up to 50 degrees

Get the trekkers, they are the 3 season ones and come in merino and coolmax. I really doubt you will rub then through.

The 4 season ones they do are great but can be a little too thick, they do make very good welly socks though.

Hoggs shooting socks come in plain and double foot with a good turnover not overpriced either
