So, what’s your claim to fame?

I gave Sandy Denny a kiss back stage at the Fairfield Halls (South London) in c1973 when she made a “guest appearance” with Fairport Convention. I was 14 and only there as a school mate’s Dad had some connection with the “management” of the band. Dave Swarbrick was a laugh.

When I told my Technical Drawing Teacher, Mr. Peck, who was also at the gig he insisted on buying me a beer! Which he did at the Greyhound within a fortnight but I can’t recall what band was on. Could have been the Groundhogs.

was she considered a looker back then?

I had the pleasure of bowling at Dennis Amiss when my team played Warwickshire in a pre season friendly. Then had Bob Willis bowling at me which was "interesting".
Went pigeon shooting with John Bidwell and accompanied him to the Browning Masters which he won.
The farm I managed twice won the National Fruit Grower Of The Year.
I received the management medal for farm management.
I appeared on the BBC 4 programme "Harvest" with Greg Wallis and Philippa Forrester.

Pushed the national lottery button with my hand on carol smileys arse and said “it’s not what you got but what you do with it that counts”… long story….

Walking down Thurso high street late one night with the good ladies family after a good meal and few beers, when staggering towards us came this figure in a trench coat in a bit of a pickle 🍾🍾🤪. Father in law knows him well turns out they served together as submariners and then I’m introduced to Bill who pressed the button , that sent the torpedo, that sunk the Belgrano. Have loaded for a few names and shot clays with a fair few celebs but chatting with Bill that night is the one memory that still makes me smile.

I had a late night leg over in the back corner of a crowded Rum Runner disco in Birmingham way back when (I will not name her as she could be connected to members on here, her nickname was maneater).

Where to start,

My dad was a well known music journo in the 60's and 70's and worked for the Record Mirror and later the NME and later Zig Zag magazine.

We where quite close family friends with the Small Faces, I still remember Steve and Jenny Marriot although I was a toddler.

We also where good friends with Dave Gilmour and some of the members of Pink Floyd.

My Father also toured with Little Feat and Dr Hook across America and became firm friends with Lowell George.

My claim to fame was initially unbeknownst to me as a child,

I was suffering from a bad cold, we where at a outdoor concert by a French group called Urban Sax.

I accidentally ended up coughing up phlegm on David Bowie's coat

Only after spewing the greenie did we notice it was him after he turned round.

Forest Machine Journal (way back in the days before it became Forestry Journal) did a two page article on me when I was starting out. Apparently I ticked boxes because I was young and had a County.

Was in Shooting Times twice (whilst at college and again shortly after - again a long, long time ago now).

Most recently am in the background on a couple of outside broadcasts shown on Swedish morning TV when they were following the Reindeer calf marking. Everyone was doing their best to avoid the camera and I still got caught, at least twice.

Belgrano bill was the owner and great landlord of the Bower Inn in bower Caithness.

Sooo anonymity wasn’t a big thing then??? Wish I had met him and shook his hand!
🦊🦊
he was only paid off and sent on his way to Caithness to keep him out of the limelight. unfortunately it didn't work and everyone found out, I think the BBC had something to do with it.
