Thinking of the Belgrano, Iwas driving through the village I lived in , just after hearing the Sheffield had been sunk, the captains mother ( Sam salt ) was walking down the road, I stopped the tractor and asked if he was ok ? His mother replied with the following quote “ he is just like his father, he lost two in the last war “ talk about stiff upper lip.
 
Didn't think I had a claim to fame until I read the badger for dinner thread and found out my dad used to work with the guy who eats roadkill. Beat that!

Cooked for Princess Anne at Burghley Horse Trials
Got Jimmy Page's autograph on a boarding card....then handed it in a couple of minutes later
Sat next to Heather Small (M People) on a flight to Berlin
Went to the after party for David Gilmour's show at Royal Allbert Hall 2016
Got involved in a fart lighting competition with Marvin Gaye
Got driven round Millbrook circuit in a Ford Escort Cosworth by Paul Radisich (British Touring Car Champion) posing as a Ford MS mechanic
Was interviewed on BBC News
Wrote a chapter for the Chub Study Group book "Big Chub".
Shot with the Earl of Bradford on the next peg.
Played in the same school rugby team as Keith Jarrett (Wales) and Tony Jordan (England)
Rowed in the school/Welsh U19 VIII in the seat behind future Olympic bronze medallist Charlie Wiggin
Taught Kingsley Ward (owner of Rockfield Studios) to fly fish.

Shot a line of clays north of Stockholm on the same line as the Swedish King Carl Gustaf Folke Hubertus as a guest of Baron Frederik von Essen. A very deep snowy January 1999 and I was using the Baikal o/u I had brought in under the radar so it was really a bit del boyish. All of his bodyguards stayed in the clubhouse drinking coffee as it was too cold. Did not get to chat though.
