So . . . .

This might be a bit naive but I don't see a need for a solution to the border as far as the UK is concerned

We just leave it open

Open borders without taking up the rear end by Brussels is, after all, having our cake and eating it

It is the EU that would have the screaming hab dabs

It is they who would have to impose a border

Then they are faced with a right old quandary - after all they hold the 'paper' on all those Irish loans

Those loans would go sour quickly if the EU prevents Ireland from trading with its biggest trading market

So... are you not going to answer my questions ?
I’ve been excitedly awaiting your proposals for preventing a boarder in Ireland and you setting out your vision for this golden Brexit promise. I’m genuinely interested to know what it is as I’ve been trying - for over two and a half years- to understand the benefits that were promoted by the leave campaign .
Answer that and then we can move onto you laying forth your plans for trade with the worlds largest economy.
Kindest regards, Olaf

I did answer them , you may not like the answers but I answered !

bowji john puts it well ,we don't want or need a hard border in Ireland , if the eu does then let them put it there , it's a non problem that the eu is using because they don't want us to leave because they want our cash , not us just our cash their club is financially struggling and if we leave that will get worse.

trade already exists , we want it to continue and if it does it will benefit us and the eu , the eu could be spiteful if they wanted and impose terms to make it difficult but that would hurt them to , I suppose it boils down to how childish they want to be ?

Further to my last

I recognise that in leaving the border open we are leaving it open to free movement

But anyone who did patrols in NI during the troubles knows that the border was entirely porous then and would be again

i suppose my stand point is we should stop negotiating as if we are dealing with a friend - we are not - we are dealing with an enemy of our interests

We should recognise where their weaknesses lie and start introducing strategic measures which expose those weaknesses

Only then will there be a sensible outcome

To do that of course - we need a Gov that actually intends to act on OUR behalf

I don;t see one on the horizon

There will be no hard borderi live 1 mile from it there are 20 different crossings within 5 miles of here
The british gov have said they want no hard border so have the ROI puppets even the eu elite say they wont impose one its a total red herring

Yeeeeessss I believe that would be called smuggling? So how are legitimate business supposed to deel across the border without being arrested?

The fact you can do a bit of "dodgy backy" across the hills doesent realy adress the serious problem does it.

I thought the govt WAS acting on our behalf doing a deel which removes us from the EU and deletes any power we had in the past but managing to maintain trade and rights of individuals?

You voted out? This would be out

Do we have to commit economic suicide for you to be happy?

Dont you understand that May's deel or no deel we have handed total power to the EU without further interference from the irritating UK government. We had the best del of ANY country in the EU and we threw it away. We had the greatest level of independence of any country in the EU and we threw it away. We had agreement that the UK would have no part in further integration of EU control and we threw it away.

Most of all we had the greatest power in the EU with voting rights above those of Germany and we threw THAT away

Mind you, when I say "we" I mean the people who voted out

What comes next is YOUR fault. Dont hide, dont blame anyone else, its all on YOU

You can't just manufacture an unsubstantiated consequence and then blame me for wanting it

It an absurd argument and really leaves me no direction for discussion

It kind of sums up the entirety of the crisis

I'll stand by my vote sir ! And I'll accept anything that come my way and deal with it to my upmost ability.
HOWEVER... what I will not accept is remain roters blaming every blip in the economy etc. On Great Britain leaving the EU, as I've said countless times in this thread economies go round in circles ''boom and bust'' have done since time began and will continue to do so no matter what the future holds.
Yes if we crash out 'a term invented by remain lobbyists'' we are in for a very bumpy ride the sooner everyone puts their shoulders to the wheel the sooner the cart will move again, as it is we've some pushing to new horizonsand some pushing to the noo noo blanket of what they feel secure in.

I wish somebody would buy a tube of Bazooka and get rid of that Veruka. The border as you say is and always was porous and we couldn't be everywhere.
Very similar to parts of Rhodesia in the early 70's except we couldn't use mines in Ireland. The threat to peace has been highlighted and threatened but I think we could and would handle that better now. As regards Chasey's comments, a whingeing capitalist is going to be the least likely animal to change my mind.

It seems the remoaners are now crying even harder, they have stood in the way of the majority leaving, with or without a deal.
The mess we are now in is entirely the fault of the minority, it is you who has sabotaged every attempt we have made to leave with a deal.
Personally I'm happy to leave with no deal, as it is the only way to actually really leave the EU, anything else is just a compromise to try and keep
the remain voters happy, which as they are the minority seem entirely unnecessary to me.

Neil.

And you have no inkling that the govt and the remain voters are trying to prevent economic disaster and suffering to 100's of thousands of UK citizens?

All the hubris on "just leave the EU and Ill struggle on" are you going to lose your job? Are you going to lose your home? This is the likely scenario for many people

I pointed out a rise in interest rates to a humble 5% base and collapse of the property market forcing many into negative equity would hurt many many people especially in their 30s and 40s who have massive mortgages, and the response I got was, I dont care, my mortgage is paid off???????

Whilst I am in the lucky position that it wont affect me in a disastrous way, I still have sympathy of those it will affect

And for what?

Nothing good that I can see.

Everything has its price. Ill suffer a massive amount for something that truly helps with global warming or the environment. Id support some draconian measures like a 1 child policy or restrictions on meet and dairy consumption, huge taxation on the worst offenders like flights and shipping. Id do all that because the end goal is worth the pain.

Brexit just isn't worth the pain

Brexit just isn't worth the pain. I disagree and why stay in a toxic marriage because you are scared of being single?

I for one don't want to leave the EU. Leaving will directly affect my business, my colleagues and family. The EU is by no means perfect, and does need reform, but we should be doing that from within.

However whether or not we remain in the EU, my biggest concern is our Government and establishment's inability to negotiate anything with anybody in any sort of timely manner. If we leave with NO DEAL, how long is it going to take to negotiate deals with the rest of the world and deals that are any better than those already in place with the EU. And in the meantime what happens to our economy. Capital and educated skills are mobile - and there is already a real brain drain and flight of capital out of the UK. But even more so, the UK, UK Business and Universities etc are just simply not being included in future collaborations etc. and this has been happening for the last two years already.

I know that I am in the minority on the SD, but I am pleased that parliament voted against the deal yesterday, and have also made it clear that leaving with No Deal is also unacceptable.
