South Yorkshire

While it's possible SYP have your records wrong, this might not necessarily be driven by the number or type of firearms, or be universal throughout the area.
There hasn't been much response from other SY FAC holders, which is odd.
There might be only a few like you affected, depending on your Postcode and local crime stats.
The police could be targetting high risk groups, which they can do. They have intelligence too.
Could this be likely in your case?:-|
It’s @Wazz77 who’s had the letter mate not myself

Unlikely, I live in a small hamlet on the edge of the moors, don't know of any crime in the area 🤷‍♂️

Having done a bit of research, there is no way that any trend in theft of guns can be deduced from South Yorkshire's published crime stats - here :-
There are references in local papers to 2 thefts from GUN SHOPS - Hardys and another in Sheffield.
One senior local Councillor puts the rise in guncrime down to firearms being imported from Eastern Europe
in 2017=2018 there were 177 thefts of "weapons", the majority of this number being "air weapons" other weapons stats above, include knives etc.
in 2018-2019 there were 199 thefts of "weapons", the majority of this number, again, being air weapons.
I have to say the evidence isn't overwhelming, (non existent to public view) since pistols as "weapons", barring air pistols have been illegal since Dunblane.
I would doubt that, the 22 number increase in thefts of "weapons" in one year, is anything but air weapons. Since nobody knows except the police and they keep their records in as confusing a state as possible re firearms, I would definately have challenged the large increase in "weapon thefts" which BSSC seem to have accepted with little concern. Given this is the force which has failed to act before and has upwards of 12,000 burglaries annually, they can hardly be said to be a 'shining example' of public protection or normally (child abuse) quick responders.
Seems like the soft target again with no support from BSSC - so normal then.

When do we get robust representation ?

What I don't understand is why I'm the only person I know in South Yorkshire who received one of these letters, and I have 5 firearms so shouldn't apply to me any way, others who have more than 6 haven't received one? 🤔
If you are a member of an org I would point this out and ask them to investigate. Holding one's breath whilst waiting for a positive answer however, is not recommended.

Could it be your seclusion that could make you a target for firearms theft matey and that's the issue?
I suppose that's a possibility, although if that was the case the alarm probably wouldn't make a huge difference. The only reason they give on the letter is anyone with a substantial number (6+) need higher levels of security, I have Less than that, but any other reason would mean the letter was misleading as it only mentions numbers

Only bds now, I'm waiting for more info from FL before I contact them so I can give them the full picture, it's possible there's some sort of error, wouldn't be the first time

They wouldn't have been known, unless there's been another breach of licence holders data
Stranger things have happened.

BTW that's the sort of thing I meant - didn't mean to imply you'd been careless sorry if that's how it came across.

Yes possible I suppose, although if that was the case I would hope they would have been honest about the reason

Received one Thursday dated 10th August - I only have 3 firearms and a shotgun. Tried calling them half a dozen times but no answer. The only thing i can think of is they are possibly counting the moderators?
I'm a member of SACS so will ask what they think and update.
