Specimen Fishes any species..

Nineteen and a half pounds of sea trout!!!!!Wowee, that's fantasy world. Nice to know that there is fish like that in the world. Stuff of dreams. Mind you there still may be a goodun lurking around in Donegal
Time you went to the Billiard room in Kinnaird House then, to see the seven ‘glass case fish’ (min 40lb, to 50lb) adorning the walls, caught by miss Ward and her sisters.

I knew this thread was going to cost me money . I'm looking at some guided trips for Mekong Cats and other large things , apparently it's too early . The wet season is just ending and I'll have to wait a bit . Hopefully , I can post some pics later . I suppose I should carry my phone and go after some snakeheads . Freaky fish , they get big , eat everything , live in mud puddles and can cross land if hard pushed ......... not a fish you'd want loose in the UK , or anywhere else for that matter . They're everywhere here and a lot of fun to catch . They really go after surface baits . It reminds me of Large Mouth Bass fishing in the states .

AB
They're already loose in Florida (snakeheads that is) and who knows where else they have gotten to. They are believed to have been released by asians wanting a taste of home.

@alberta boy , That's good news if this thread has inspired you to "Go Fishing". Some pictures of Mekong cats & Snakeheads would be most welcome... quite exotic.

I was given a book to read many years ago, Jeremy Wade & Paul Boote, "Somewhere Down The Crazy River"
These two chaps both sold all their possessions to fund a trip to India in search of Mahseer, one of them had found an old book about the Colonial times detailing the capture of some of these huge fishes. They set off, not knowing if any still survived, as the great rivers in India had been fished with dynamite by the locals. They found a few, and the rest is history.
Their next trip was in search of the Goliath Tiger Fish..... this book inspired me to get out with a rod more... Jim Corbett had the same effect with shooting...
Jeremy Wade has a show here in the states called "River Monsters" that you would enjoy. He's all over the world pursuing exotic fish of all sorts.

Yes, we have it to watch in the UK as well. It's quite amusing at times, the dramatic editing makes me chuckle.

@SikaSeeker That's a very eclectic mix of fishes.
That tench is very beautifully proportioned. Sometimes, they can look a bit lumpy, maybe it's all the bait they live on in England, rather than your naturally grown monsters.
The Bass was a whooper. How big did that go?

High Mountain mackinac trout from our last winter outing. Not mine though because apparently my greatest fishing talent is as a good luck charm.

I'll be missing the ice fishing this year. This pic is making me homesick to be honest . We share the same fishing talent ,mine works really well when the wife is with me . I could catch a world record fish and within the hour she will catch one substantially larger ........ every time . Where was this picture taken , if you don't mind me asking ?

At Chambers Lake near Cameron pass. Larimer county Co. There are some whoppers in there but the big ones don't eat well. We normally put them back but this one was hooked deep/badly, so ended up as dinner.

I know the area , that's why I asked. I've only been through there in the summer though . Beautiful country . I didn't know that you had Lake Trout , that's what we call them , in Colorado . They can get very large , the biggest I've caught was just under 16 pounds . The Alberta rod and line record is just over 50 , but there was a commercially netted fish out of Lake Athabasca that was over 100 pounds . You'd need a big ice auger for that lol .

I worked up there a couple summers for the water company that owns both Chambers Lake and Long Draw Reservoir. Old stomping grounds for me. Do let me know if you're through the area again. Would be nice to meet up.

The tench was in a very deep water, they don’t spawn until well in to July. They do get the “pigeon breast” look come that time. That bass went 10lb8ozs back in 2008. I was seatrout fishing at the time from a beach. Big surprise!!
