I havent done a renewal for 4 ish years but the best advice is check again with your FEO or keep a copy of the advice which lets you avoid any disclosure. Last time I WAS asked for traffic offences as these can still be relevant to the decision to renew or not.I understand that on the forms it states minor traffic offences parking and fixed penalty notices need not be declared
Can you tell me what the process was? Genuinely may have to do this…
It is not "designed" to catch anybody out.It seems to me a stupid requirement designed to catch people out.
Before 2016, which is when they changed the application form, you only had to declare convictions in the previous 5 years which was a sensible requirement. Now you have to declare any conviction no matter how old which is a retrograde step because people forget. A conviction can only be classed as a conviction if a court is involved in the adjudication, so FPN's for whatever offence are not convictions and do not have to be declared.I could never understand the concept of having to try to recall every offence no matter how minor committed in a lifetime.
After all the police should know and they do know hence people get into trouble for not declaring such minor offences.
Whether you can or can’t recall past offences doesn’t change the fact that you committed the offences in the first place. Neither does recalling them make you any more suitable to hold a FAC.
It seems to me a stupid requirement designed to catch people out.
It’s funny how many hoops you have to jump through to get your FAC but with a driving licence 18months after been caught ****ed as a fart you get another go!
I’m pretty sure that cars can be just as deadly if not more so than a firearm but stricter driving licence requirements would lose votes whereas FAC holders are a minority.
It’s all ways been that way, one way or another, honesty is always the best policy when applying for an FAC or SGC.The more l read on here the more l feel like withdrawing my FAC application. The legislation is far too complicated and administered/applied inconsistently by officials who cannot be called to account for their actions.
Yes I found similar myselfI used to visit the Isle of Man and when coming home the 70mph ride felt like you could get off and walk!

It is a question you should know the answer to (or at least have a vague recollection of) - nothing more and nothing less
Finally, someone with some common sense, this is the proper way forward, and it is what I done as I had convictions but for the life of me no idea when or what the actual conviction was listed as on the pnc.Get a copy of your police records
You have the right to ask for a copy of records the police have about you. This is called a ‘subject access request’.
You might need a subject access request if you move to another country.
A subject access request has records from:
You can make a subject access request to the ACRO Criminal Records Office (ACRO).
- police forces in England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Jersey and the Isle of Man
- the British Transport Police
The process is different if you need to request records from Scotland.
yes all makes sense but it also states on the form any convitions but Parking offences and Fixed Penalty notices need not be declared so what will happen if you don't put these down your fac etc should still go ahead because you have done what the forms are askingFinally, someone with some common sense, this is the proper way forward, and it is what I done as I had convictions but for the life of me no idea when or what the actual conviction was listed as on the pnc.
On receipt of my record, I simply photo copied it and included it with my forms.
My FEO was fine with it (obviously) and we talked about it and he was totally happy to sign it off knowing I had been honest and disclosed everything, and in his words, you was a young man and it’s clear by the time elapsed you have grown up and turned your life around.
Don’t be afraid to tell them, they are not monsters, they will however take a very dim view if they feel you are hiding something, and rightly so.
The subject access really means there is no excuse for non disclosure, I also realise by my own vase you cannot always remember everything so no excuse really.
100mph, who cares if it was a 30 zone or a 70, it’s well over and above and you should take it on the chin if your daft enough to do it.
30mph feels like walking to me, but if it’s the speed limit so that’s what I drive at.
Whilst a lot of folk complain about the FLO, I can only say good things, I’ve always found them straight forward and helpful, totally up front about stuff, and generally take a reasonable and sensible approach to things.
I could never understand the concept of having to try to recall every offence no matter how minor committed in a lifetime.

Convictions to be declared on the application forms all convictions must be declared except parking offences and FPNSorry but I can't make head nor tail of that.
