In the Wimbourne area of Dorset there`s a stag high up on a pillar.
There`s a lion further down the road over some gates.
Can anyone shed any light on what this place is please?
Is it an estate?

Hi Basil

I think you might be referring to the Drax Estate

Richard Drax is a sound fella and MP

And i believe a fella called Mike Small has the Deer Management on the estate

Stag Gate, Charborough Park on the A31 - as PS says, part of the Drax Estate although the entrance has long been unused.

Usless fact: The only 5 legged stag in existance! The 5th 'leg' is actually a tree stump incorporated into the statue for strength, although it's been referred to as a leg in some publications!

I was told the fifth leg is there because from a different angle it gives the deer all four legs if that makes sense !

I'd hate to be Mr. Drax's building company, seems to be every week some pillock stuffs their car through his nice brick wall!!

Yep I was told many years ago when I lived down that way, the 5th leg was made on purpose so when the landowner looked at the Stag it had 4 visible legs from no matter where he looked on his estate

Pass it everytime I go to my ground in Dorset. Quite often see Sika on the left hand fields after the main entrance.
