stalking boots

thanks for the heads up lads, I have dived in and just ordered a pair of meindl dovre extremes from bushwear, they do look very good and its near christmas anyway:thumb:

Meindl dovre extreme boots spot on. I use them for shooting and at work ,as a forester. They should stay waterproof for up to two years then expect moisture ingress. Sealskin socks will help get another half year or more. If you get a second pair after 18 months then you can use new ones for wet days and the old ones for dry days.

scotspine .....do you use yours everyday, if you do then that lifespan would be ok, I would be using mine a couple of times a month, so should I expect a longer lifespan.

i have had mendiel and have been good boots but stichen rotted after a year of everyday use.
now on to diottos no scratch best boot i have ever owned wear them every day for up to 18 hours aday and can not fault them one bit 10/10 for them

The Harkilas are pants, I know of many pairs that have been returned, and I just ordered a pair of boots myself and whilst on the phone to the chap who sells the Harkilas, he told me not to buy them, so what does that tell you? I stalk on the hill everyday of the season and cant beat Meindle dovre or antarktis.

Dont know how good they are yet but just got myself some Harkila Pro Hunters there less than half price at John Norris £109 down from £235 worn them a few times now very comfy not got them wet yet

I think that says enough, meindls have been the same price for ten years, I supose it depends on what you use them for, walking the dog?

I bought a pair of Diotto from blackislander in march they have been comfortable and water proof from day one

Huge Lundhags fan here, been using them for years.

Honest advice - stop being fancy, go and get yourself a pair of Viking dryboots for fifty quid and enjoy dry feet.

i have had mine for a couple of seasons now and they have worn in an absoloute treat, they do not squeek, they do not leak, they are so comfy i could walk for days in them. they are without a doubt the best boots i have ever owned (touch wood) and i have been through a few differant pairs over the years. as already stated they get more and more comfatable everytime i put them on and also keep my feet warm which i have found with other boots although dry my toes were getting cold ! they get cleaned every few weeks and at the same time if required are waxed and treated with the meindl wax stuff! 10/10 from me i really can not fault them ! but they dont come cheap !
+ 1 !!!

Years ago when I was in the TA I bought a pair of Lowa rejects off eBay, always worn with sock liners and sealskinz. I worn then for two weeks solid on a very damp Sennybridge, socks and boots never let me down. Boots cost about £50 I think.

I know it sounds odd but did you treat them every time you used them? I've heard of this a couple of times and when I spoke to Meindl about it they said it's caused by people putting excessive amounts of wax on their boots. They said the boots should be looked after but not excessively.

Anyone that buys Meindl boots should get the meindl sport wax and avoid G-wax and Nikwax if they can. The meindl wax is far better and you need less of it to treat your boots.

like my meindels but i am going to try some ALTBERGS made in GB next ,had good service from my douvre extreme but not warm enough for minus degree work sat up high seats in jan doing cull work !!!

i have used altberg boots for the last three years they are very comfortable but soon let water in my last pair were bought in febuary and went stalking in scotland and ended up with wet feet my son now uses them for work

+1 for the diottos from blackislander 3 really hard years still going strong mouflon plus from chemeau lasted 3 months

when wearing them everyday you have a job to treat and clean every day, one of the worst thing for boots is blood! its awful stuff rot ts stitching . for low maintenance boots i personally cant see past the diottos supper comfy i have them thinsulate lined for winter and unlined in the summer
