Just like to add my thanks to Mike and all those involved in organising a great day, looking forward to next year, will be matting a scope to the .45/70

Thanks to Mike and Beth for organising a fantastic day. It was great meeting you both the night before at the campsite and glad to see that your BBQ was still a towering inferno despite the rain! At least it kept the tents dry...

Thanks to everyone for making me feel so welcome. Can't wait for the next one!

Best wishes to all,
Simon

Roedinator very generously donated a day stalking roe to the H4H prize draw. The prize was won by Jagare who lives in Sweden and as he puts it “has shot a roe or three over the years”. Jagare has decided with the agreement of Roedinator that he would like to re-donate the prize so that it can be auctioned to the highest bidder off the Stalking Directory.

Roedinator’s reply if I may quote him –
I think it would be a fantastic idea to auction it, you can put that I will do my best to get a trophy class buck if one walks out that’s stalking nothing guaranteed, or if they want to shoot numbers then they can come on a doe cull whatever they wish. I will tailor it to suit the highest bidder for the H4H .”

So starting from now I will accept bids for the day’s stalking by private message. I will update the bids daily for the next week and close the auction at 22.00hrs on Wednesday 29th June 2011. Don’t be mean with your bids because I know that you will not be disappointed with the stalking or with Roedinator’s company for the day.
The stalking will take place in Somerset a very beautiful part of our country which has a reputation for producing fine roe deer.

The auction will be conducted in the H4H section of the forum.

Apologies for not being able to make it as a family bereavement came un-expectedly

But well done to all that attended and the amount raised, excellent

Also what a great gesture from both Alan & Pete, well done guys

I'm sorry to hear that Richard.
Yes it is an extremely generous of Alan to re-donate the stalking and on top of that Pete has increased the value of the prize significantly by offering the clay tuition as well. He even offered to feed the winner which if it was like the day he took me out is worth the current bid on it’s own. I think that Pete is a bit like me and doesn’t like to go hungry, and is very fortunate as his wife is a very good cook and obviously looks after him.

I received another donation on Friday evening that along with the money raised by the auction mentioned above will push the amount raised for H4H to over £1,500.

Yes Alex I picked up a copy of The Monmouthshire Beacon yesterday and they ran the story with no changes other than for some reason placing the title Rugby above it. I am informed that there will be a something in Shooting Times next week.

The last dribs and drabs are just coming in such as the sale of cut hazel sticks donated by finnbear270 for another ten pounds, and payment for the stalking day & clay tuition donated by Roedinator and re-donated by Jagare after he had won it in the prize draw. In total the amount raised for Help for Heroes for this event is £1,503.54 this is nearly 50% up on last year by my simple reckoning.
What is more all prizes and awards have been given freely by members of the Stalking Directory who approached me, there was no begging involved, and no costs were incurred. I simply can't thank everyone who donated or was involved in any way sufficiently enough.
