Stalking smock

I have tried a few over the past 30 odd years.

My Nomad is the most breathable but only 90% waterproof. My Swedteam Titan Pro is less breathable but 100% waterproof.

I have had Rivers West and a Ridgelines in the past - both too sweaty. The Stony Creek ones are supposed to be a good breath/proof balance.

Not if downwind in a 20mph wind on the hill and not half as noisy as the owner having just crawled through some blackthorn and ripped it to bits. Seem to work best as ski wear with temp below zero and no mud or stabby branches

I have too many smocks. For the hill, I'd probably choose the Musto Keeper (Sportsman had them on offer at 165 quid a few weeks ago- wish I'd bought another) or my 25 year old Swanndri.
 
I've been using an £80 Deerhunter smock I bought from an SD member for a couple of years on the hill and walked up woodcock shooting with zero issues whatsoever. Hasn't leaked yet and underarm zipped vents are useful too also silent when moving 🧐.
 
I used Swanndri for many years - they're great but they got seriously heavy when wet. I've had my Nomad Quadrider since they first came out and I still use it. It's had a rough life and lots of wee rips and punctures, easily fixed (usually a dab of wader repair!) Mine's so old now it's damn near transparent in places, so it gets a really good spray with Fabsil once in a while and it still keeps me dry.

I don't know if this helps you but the all-round coat is Heavy when wet, I will still be dry some how, and looks a similar size to the smock to my eyes. My favourite is the zipped pullovers and plus fours, put a military surplus light rain shell over it when thing get a bit disappointing.

This.

They are not optimal in continuous wet, and become actively dangerous if it’s raining constantly and temperature is just above freezing. They’re also pretty useless when crawling or lying.

Much as Ridgeline are mocked for being bin bags, I have yet to find something that keeps you as dry in prolonged heavy rain.

I'd agree with this, I've had 3, estate issue, and none have kept me dry when I needed it to.
They're a very comfortable, well designed coat, good pockets, good length and a great collar and hood, but imo, they're a shower resistant soft shell and not a "waterproof".
When a bit of a wind is pushing the rain you'll soon get wet in a Parmo, on a cold, windy but dry day, they are very good.
I found them very breathable but very soft, they'll tear on the smallest of snags and hopeless when lying down or crawling, and they're not cheap.
I've bought my last Paramo.

I think their ideal niche is when it’s consistently below freezing and you’re working hard, so getting hot. Then you really can’t afford for the sweat to build up. They make sense ski touring and the like.

For stalking in the rain, completely useless.

I was up in the Lakes looking at different smocks , i went to a large Ridgeline stockiest and they said they had sent so many of these pintails back as they leaked
but they did say the evolution was suppose to be the best, but unfortunately they didn't have any inn stock.

I use the older model than the one in your pic , it's my go to smock 90% of the time, if the weather is that bad il put on my ridgeline monsoon elite smock or stay home. The pintail I have is nowhere near as waterproof as the monsoon elite but it is more than enough for most days and it is perfectly breathable, the monsoon isn't so but you don't really care even the weather is that bad ..
