Storing guns at a different address

My mate has been with his Mrs for 3 years and just put in for his renewal, turns out his girlfriends son is a bit of a scroat with a record. The police are now telling him that he has to keep his guns at a different address as the fear the son is could break into the house and disc cut the cabinet of the wall🙄 he had been a FAC and SGC holder for 30 years with no problems. Has anyone else heard of this condition trying to forced on someone?
Cheers
It's not uncommon, and not a big deal, just inconvenient.

I was (until recently) in the military and both my certificates were with Northants Police. Rather than constantly changing Police Forces, Northants Police agreed that their Firearms Licencing would remain my unit and I just kept them appraised of the locations where I had weapons. They were either a cabinet in my house / Station Armoury and/or my mother-in-laws house (didn’t have the issue about a brother-in-law ‘known to the law though!’)

Perhaps this varies but I kept my guns at the old home and lived else where for several years with the full knowledge of the Firearms dept, if the 'scroat' is not resident at the address I don't see what the difference is as he could break into any home and steal ,guns included , surely its the security arrangements that matter.

I wonder how many guns have been accessed by relatives/partners relatives and used in homicides - Rather less I would suggest than Dunblane (Police error), Durham (Police error) etc. In which case , is it an unreasonable requirement - something for BASC to take a peek at ?
