Do the butchers in Oxford's covered market still display all the turkeys in feather in rows above the shop - part of the Christmas decoration - along with venison still in skin hanging up outside. Haven't been back for a few years.
In Edinburgh Bowers in Stockbridge have a good display of game etc.
I think some here are forgetting that the regulations protect us as primary producers of large game. There is a difference between a bullet, gralloch, carcass extraction etc compared to the process of meat through a slaughter house. I am not saying that the slaughter house process is completely faultless. However, the way a carcass is stored reduces the risk to the end consumer. Anything less than the standards laid down should be considered by all of us as unacceptable as it is our reputation on the line when it comes to public perception. We all know how powerful the media is.
wrong most the butchers that i deal with thats 133 to date on the books ,thinks this butcher has let ever butcher down and has not thought about his actions at all i.I have spoke to this butcher in person and he has not got a clue about game at all or meat come to think of it .he dosent no a limy from a longhorn its a shame that the decent butchers dont ever get a mention for all the good that they do in the local farming communtiy
