T3 why do folk like them?

If they listened it would make their apparently good rifle into a really good rifle. It only takes one man have to have a good idea
Oh I shoot more than a few deer, probably shoot more in one year than most do in a life time
Give me the Tikka/ Sako mans number then

Tikka seem to be very good a getting Government contracts. They won the Canadian Government contract to re-equip the Canadian Rangers who had been using the No4 Lee Enfield since the 1940's with a version of the Tikka T3. Will these still be going strong in 60 years time?

For the Forestry Commission, The Tikka T3 probably represented good value for money on a competitive tender basis and whilst there proabably UK suppliers of similar rifles, it is a European source which would favour it over and above the Remington700 - which also has a history of litigation. T3's also equip many UK Police forces.

Sounds as though your needing some (me time fella). You could perhaps go down the Ruger route, a change is as good as a holiday!
Can l ask ..being FC you’ll be exempt from holding an fac. ?
If so can you not apply for one in your own right and use whatever you want.
Ps. personally lm a Tikka user have never seen an issue with mag or having to put off safety to empty.
After all we’re all safety conscious or should be  l like the idea of locking the bolt.
Let you’re hair down Al. chill.

Why would he buy his own rifle to wears it out in a couple of years?

What forces in the U.K. out of interest? I know some of the French police use them but the only bolt action rifles I’ve seen used in Scotland (well the north east anyway) are AI and prior to that were Parker Hale’s although I think Lothian and Borders possibly did use 595’s.

I so like my T3 but at night removing a round is a pain. Would it stop me buy another. Not sure would have to look round to see what was available

No your wrong, no tender to Tikka or any other rifle supplier.

I don’t own a Tikka and most likely never will unless some drastic changes are made which is highly unlikely. The T3x is an improvement over the T3 but still has a small ejection/loading port. Even though this feature is a boon to accuracy by virtue of a stiffer receiver I’m not going to have a rifle unless it has a generous port ala Remington 700, Winchester M70, Mauser 98 and it’s clones. I also much prefer a blind magazine or hinged floorplate over a DBM. I have a bad shoulder and Tikka’s in the harder recoiling cartridges are too light for my taste.

So the features I don’t care for in a Tikka are just that, features, and have nothing to do with quality, even granting that small ejection ports are used because they cost the manufacturer less money to make. Also, the features that are a minus for me are a plus to most users.

I worked the gun counter part time from 2014-2016 at a huge firearms retailer and sold a bunch of Tikkas. I do believe their quality is outstanding for their price point and the trigger on them is beyond compare at any price point. It’s been several years but I read an article on the Sako/Tikka barrel making process and it made sense to me why their barrels are so accurate. And there is no denying Tikka and Sako barrels are accurate as hell.

It’s plain as day to me why Tikkas are so popular and are deservedly so.

l myself have been a tikka fan for years, the simple fact being they do the Job, are accurate and reliable
