Look at as much nv as you can before you part with any cash lads, don't learn the hard way like i did.

I can never understand why people knock archers. I use them and think they are great. 9 out of 10 cat owners who fed their cats archers said their cats preferred them. I have looked through many nv units. I'M NOT IN THE TRade. But most people who use them are very happy, I spent hours online looking for complaints and the only people who bitched about them were people selling illegal envis units. 1 bloke was selling one for £3000. Try getting that fixed after it goes bang because if couldn't handle the recoil. The others who bitched were others who promoted their own unit.
They are not as pretty as some units, they are heavy and you do need time to set them up right. For the money a grade D with the correct scope will shoot a lot farther than I would want to.
For the money, less than £1700 I am unaware of anything (legal) to touch it.
as you can tell I am a fan.
Like anything you pays your money and pays your choice. I did, I bought a second to go with the first, then so did my mate, then his mate.

envis units are normaly around max 1500 pvs14 2000 2500 for a minter now if you fit a mx10160 tube in your archer then you will have a very good unit as the archer uses a 1.5mag front lense not 1 as in the pvs14 envis and with the better tube fitted gives very good image thats what i did with my archer when i had it the eev tubes cannot compare to us itt tubes yes they will let you shoot foxes but not with the claritey of a us tube shame you not closer bud we could have done a side by side comparison

I've used an Archer and a Longbow for a few years now, totally satisfied with both of them. With NV by and large you get what you pay for. SRS dismisses both of these as not being in the same league as something costing £10000. Personally I would hope they weren't if I was to spend that sort of money. The Archer certainly is not something you stick on a scope and use and expect good results. It took some time for me to get the best out of mine, trying out a variety of settings, now it will give me clear vision for shooting out to 150 yards, The Longbow is even better giving a clear view out to 300 yards.
Do you need to see further than that? Incidentally, I use a Dereelight torch fitted with an IR LED. This has made a big difference to the quality of the picture, much cleaner.

seconded I always keep quiet on nv discussions as I keep being told how rubbish the archers are, once I got to grips with the setup mine gave good results. Now with the deerelight IR it gives it a true 200 yard shootable distance and spots to 300 no problem and a very clear image. Bearing in mind mine is on a z6i so one of the least recommended scopes it is superb for what I want it for.

This is the play-off using add-ons you still need a fair amount of IR, dedicated needs very little just enough for eye-shine both have there + and - tho.
