Had a nice buck the last week, then a few nights ago I had one take off from the safety catch of all things....?! other thought Is maybe thermals swirled the wind at a bad time, seen him last night and this morning basically in the same spot, so maybe tonight?

Great day today
Started with a hangover !

Then went to check traps and foind my magpie that i had caught had been eaten by a fox that i caught ! - in a clam next to it was another fox ! - sadly thios one escaped as i pulled up !
Then a crow in another trap

Few hours on the pigeons with the lads on some milky wheat and then another stoat the size of a cat to finish !IMG_7297.webp

Despite spending most of the weekend in a cherry picker doing various jobs at home (oiling some cladding, sorting out the ridge of one of the barns etc) I stupidly agreed to pop over to one of the farms and have a few hours on the corvids. Shot from 5.30-9.30 ...slow going but managed a mixed bag of 17 with a bonus magpie. Nice to be out but would have liked it to be a bit busier ... still...up to 268 ytd ... every little helps :)

Text from one of the farmers yesterday saying the crows had found the barley. Went and had a look but the flat patches are in the middle of the field so not very handy to decoy. Decided to set up first thing this morning (4.30) on one of the grass fields below the barley. Started shooting at 4.45 and as is often the case first thing the crows were in the pattern when I was walking back from the truck. Good start then slowed up which is good as I had to go to work so called it a day at 7.00.

Ended on 26 ...all of which were carrions 👍

Popped down to one of my regular farms with the air rifle as there is a nest of feral pigeons in one of the barns. Shot the 3 who were there and the farmer is going to remove the nest. Farmer was happy 👍 Looks like combining in the next week or so then we will see what the woodpigeons etc are doing

After dropping my Raw .25 Fac .,snapping it in 2 !!! !shockingly weak at the pistol grip!
Fortunately I’ve got a good mate who’s going to try and repair it again ..me being me insisted that he puts a solid metal plate underneath where the block sits in the channel and see what transpires!
On a lighter note ..I’ve got this Theoben Rapid Mk1 F&T laminated stock that he’s also reworked for my Raw .25 Fac HM1000x to get on with.
Here’s a couple of pictures from my car and on Farm in my favourite sitty tree taken this morning whilst I attended to some Corvid and Pigeon control under GL42

To be honest..This particular permission is in a sensitive area..Farmers on board with me using what ever is needed to be discreet!
I actually prefer my F.A.C Air rifle ..it’s extremely quite, cheap as chips and I can shoot up in trees with relative safety!
