It'll be so good even "Shir Sean" may come back.
Personally, I think he may be shaken but he won't stir...not long enough to pay taxes here anyway.

Ps.. I get mistaken for Bradd Pitt all the time.

So why bring the subject up then?:suss:

Hmm I smell a banned member!!

I brought it up because it's a very topical off-topic subject at the moment, up here at least. I was pleased to be able to do that as I was sure someone else would have brought it up already then I found I had the chance to do it. Maybe I shouldn't have gone with the jokey opener. Sorry. Cannae see why it would be an offence to ban me for though. It might even be important to stalking too you know.

In an effort to be even handed, and to assist anyone who is thinking of voting Yes, I have been thinking of reasons for them to do so.

How about...

You would like students from England and Wales to receive higher education free in Scotland.

yorky i think theres more happening in the world today should shock you a bit more than some **** being pelted by an egg or mere worrds being tweeted ie rotherham, now that is shocking i think if you use the word shocking it should be used in its proper context, ether that your easily shocked

I am a very sensitive person. I still Cry watching ET ;).

Yorkie.

I posed this question a number of times and upon pressing all I can get out of the yes camp is if everyone is allowed to vote we won't win?

I would like to see only ukip voters allowed to vote at the next general election , seems fair................

That makes no sense at all. Democracy doesn't work like that. Only the people of Scotland have the right to vote on Scottish secession, in the same way that only the people of the UK should have the right to vote on whether to leave the EU. If a member is considering leaving a club that is a decision only that member can make. If a non-member is applying to join then that would be a different matter and a question on which all existing members would expect to vote. In free society you ask to enter but you are free to leave, otherwise you are enslaved.
If "yes" voters think that the only reason not to hold a UK wide vote is that they might not win it then they do not understand the most fundamental principles of a free society, which is not an auspicious start. And I think they may be wrong. I suspect a UK wide vote might increase the yes vote. I for one fervently hope for a yes. I just think its a tragedy that Scotland has chosen such abysmal leaders with neither the intellect nor the statesmanship to preside over the successful and harmonious establishment of a new country so that whatever the outcome this issue will not be fully resolved and the injury it has done to relations between Scotland and England will linger like a bad smell to trouble future generations.

Ok so most people will have decided how they will vote myself included.
Some will change their minds but most won't.

As it is I don't think I'll be changing anybody's mind on here.
So I'll just say good luck and may the best option win and I hope I won't get the chance to say "told you so"

Ed

Actually, the question is "Should the United Kingdom be broken up?" If that is the case we should all have a vote. The decision will change all our lives and many will have no say at all.

David.

I didn't say it was an offence to ban you did I. I stated that you are suspiciously like a member who is already banned!!

Interesting debate on channel 5 yesterday which consisted of three groups, The YES, The NO and the Don't know.

A person from one of the groups asked a question and it was someone from the other groups which was supposed to give an answer but it never seemed to answer the question asked.
One woman for the yes vote claimed that when the yes vote wins Scotland would be in a good position with no debt and a clear credit score but someone on the no vote said that Scotland would still have its debt to clear and it wouldn't have a credit rating as it would be looked upon as a new country.

Its going to be worrying a lot of people in Scotland I would think as there is two sides to the debate and neither come straight with a truthful answer.

I just hope which ever way the vote goes it works out well for them

Another reason to vote Yes...

You would like to wipe out All of the UK defence jobs in Scotland.

Excuse for saying this, but isn't Mr Salmond the one who wants all the submarines removed along with their nuclear capacity from Scotland, if you win independence?

That's only if he stays in power!

My questions are:- given that Westminster keeps saying the Scots get more in subsidies and benefits than we give in taxes why are they so keen to keep us together?
What have we Scots got that they are so keen to keep a hold of?

Ed
Bearing in mind the doom and gloom predictions for sporting opportunities - stalking and fishing (being the only ones i have any interest in), feck all as far as i can see :british:

Yes, I think that is true. No nukes at Faslane if we become independent. I think the American nuclear bombing capability already no longer uses Machrihanish too. I suppose the primary strike risk goes down for the West of Scotland if Salmond gets his wishes.

ps. I'm not sure what I've done to resemble someone you clearly dislike and I don't understand what you are referring to.

If they remove all these defence jobs who is going to protect Scotland and what will they be paid with if Scotland hasn't got its own currency

Yet again your providing us with jobs - but people say there's employment black spots in England and Wales.
Why not take this opportunity to move them down south and say Cheerio?

So why are you so keen that we stay together?
The only reason smiley is waving the Union flag is there is not one waving the cross of St George , i am very much English first and British a distant second.
I care little whether the vote is yes or no , the only thing that concerns me is how long before the new Socialist Republic of Scotland takes to sink under a mountain of debt (if all the jam tomorrow promises of that fat lying little toad are ever delivered .......) and then who gets to pick up the tab .......... ?

Maybe you're right but we contribute roughly £1700 per adult and child in taxes but only get back £1200 so that's £2.5billion unaccounted for?
