S&B A7 or A4.
This seems to be a good bet. Where could I get one of them. Thanks.S&B 3-12 x42 FFP the thickest I have used / seen...............................but works very well in woodland where you can lose a finer reticle.
Trouble with the Leupolds (for me) is that the eye relief seems very fussy.I recommend Leupold VX2 scopes with the duplex style reticle as they have thicker central crosshairs than S&B equivalents even though the outer legs of the Leupold duplex crosshair is thinner. I use them on three of my rifles (example below is a Leupold VX2 1-4x20) and even at 4x they work out to 1000yds at Bisley in the sense that the central intersection just covers the white sticker in the middle of the big black target disc.
They do - just mark the distances on the dial with a fine permanent marker. Pretty much what they did with first generation of l96 sniper scopes which used the 6x42.I wish S&B did a 6x42 with a diallable turret!
Would be the perfect forestry scope where you occasionally have to shoot across clearfell.
S&Bs 3-12x50 are the same thicknessThis seems to be a good bet. Where could I get one of them. Thanks.
They’re impossible to find. I can get you a virtually new one for £1,050 if interested - probably the only one for sale in the UK.This seems to be a good bet. Where could I get one of them. Thanks.
They’ll fit one for a small fortuneI wish S&B did a 6x42 with a diallable turret!

No - I mean one that doesn’t need the cap taken off to dial. They do - just mark the distances on the dial with a fine permanent marker. Pretty much what they did with first generation of l96 sniper scopes which used the 6x42.
It depends on the model. All three of my Leupold VX2 scopes have generous eye relief so it's important to try out different versions.Trouble with the Leupolds (for me) is that the eye relief seems very fussy.
These look to be retrofitable to 6x42 and 10x42 S&B Scopes. Does any body done this?No - I mean one that doesn’t need the cap taken off to dial.
S&B will do it, but for rather a lotThese look to be retrofitable to 6x42 and 10x42 S&B Scopes. Does any body done this?

Schmidt & Bender Klassik German 4-16x50 Precision Hunter - Minsterley Ranges - Run By Shooters For Shooters any good?I have a steel tubed S&B 4-12x50 on my stutzen and would happily let it go as I hate thick reticles. Its ony the need to find an alternative in the 2nd image plane with exactly the same external objective diameter that's putting me off:
