Thoughts on Scope 4-16x50 Hawke Sidewinder

Hi all,

I am new to stalking and centrefire shooting. I am looking for a scope to go on my rifle that I will use for stalking on field margins mostly with occasional woodland. I will also be shooting quite a bit at ranges to practice.

I was looking at a hawke sidwinder 4-16 x50 and thought id get peoples thoughts. I know there are so many options for people and preferences. Just a bit of a mine field, but I thought that was a good magnification range for both types of shooting.

Thanks

I have this scope on my 17 hmr. I used it on my 243 before swapping it out for Riton scope. You may wish to check out Riton. But I found the hawke scope good enough. I just used the Riton for some steel work.

You're better off with a far better used Leupold VX3 for not a lot more. I found the 4.5-14 x 40 an excellent all round scope and if your range work is only 100 yds or 200 yds, 14's all the mag you need. Nice optics, low profile, light, parallax adjustable and comes with a really decent bdc ret option (varmint ret I think they call it). As above, avoid cheap ultra zoom scopes.

I have Leupold scopes on several of my rifles, I would not touch any other brand for a long time.

These are as good as any of my Leupolds, better actually, and they can be had for a pittance.

Everyone laughs at me when I tell them about these scopes, but at 50 UK ( refundable ) pounds shipped you can not go wrong. I have two and another model from the same place on the way.

Those scopes half 1/2 moa corrections, that’s very crude adjustment, especially at distance.
But your brass, your choice.

I/2 minute corrections is perfect for me. But if you want 1/4" adjustments there are others to chose from. The thing is it's not my brass at risk, it's their brass that's on the hook.

This is the latest one I have coming, 1/4 moa clicks. With a bit of luck I will have it next week.

It's going on my real deal 22-250 Tikkakoski

At 400 pounds you could buy 8 of the scopes I recommend. And without any risk whatsoever:lol:
True but this would at least arrive in the UK. Alli express. 🤣.... Never heard anyone get anything but issues from there. Rather buy once correctly.

I buy stuff from Ali express regularly and have never had an issue, and I don't see how there can be an issue. Shipping is guaranteed as is the goods. If you are not 100% happy you can return it and get your money back.

Where are Riton scopes made, would it be China by any chance ?

Where do you live though?
